I have a 109mb .mp3 file I'd like to set playing on a loop in my house, but have had little success in figuring out exactly how to do it.

If one of you could pretend I'm a complete and utter moron (a stretch, I know) and walk me through it I'll buy you a virtual beer.

You will need a shoutcast or icecast server, you can set one of for free on your computer and stream the music to your land, but if you are going to have people there you will need alot of bandwidth. In that type of case you will need a hosting service which can run between 8.00 to 400.00 a month depending on well you shop around and how good of a service you will get. I DJ in SL and use a 8.00 a month server, its a 128bit feed and I get 60 connection slots. This is very cheap of a price but there are times when the system will hipcup a bit.

you can stream the mp3 file it will re-start each time you leave the land.
to do this you must have your mp3 file hosted on a web server you can not upload it to SL or have it on a web site that streams it as a m3U playlist. (ie Dmiusic.com garageband, etc.)

I had my podcast looped on my first land.
hope this helps.

I have a web site to upload my files...can I use "that" to stream my own stuff directly from my site, or do I have to use winamp or something as a go between?

I dont have any land yet, I was just wondering.

yes as long as you can host the mp3 file it will work in the media box when you get your land.
input the url to the file (http://www.yourweb.com/your.mp3)

it will work fine but again do remember that if you walk across the property line and come back it will re-start the song/file :D
