Can anyone tell me why I can no longer type commands in my chat window e.g /99 Bling Off? My av doesn't go into typing pose at all, yet normal chat is fine, it's only when I hit the / key no words appear in the chat box. Thanks

Are you sure that it used to?

Since I started back in January, it has always been the case that typing a slash at the beginning of a chat line would result in the suppression of the typing animation and sound. I believe it is meant to do that so that you can launch gestures (/laugh), announce an action (/me tickles you), or issue commands on a different chat channel (/9 hide), all without giving the appearance that you are about to actually say something in chat.

I only noticed it today when trying to turn off some bling, nothing happened and the command didn't work either - the bling was still there. Hmm confused now as I'm sure I used the /command when updating a Chimera this week, but thanks for your reply Ava.

If you type a "/" That turns off your animation and typing sounds. This is useful in situations where sound would be annoying, such as at a live concert.

If you follow the slash with some number, your chat is going out over that particular channel and you WON'T be able to see it, unless you are using some device that let's you scan and monitor other channels.

The command should still work to turn off your bling, or open the door, or change the color of your car or whatever. If it does not, check the spelling, caps, spacing etc.

Is it just the one item that isn't responding properly? If so, perhaps resetting the script could help?

And what Dances said, too... double check to make sure you are typing the command in correctly. It's one of the reasons I avoid things with chat commands, because I can never remember which channel various things are on.

Maybe you are in a no script area? Scripted attachments won't work there.

If you use an AO with a "type restore" attachment, you won't be able to send the type animation in a no script area either.

If you need to send a command in a no script area, fly up to 100m. Scripts usually work above 100m.

Or possibly take it off and put it back on if you haven't done so yet.

Thanks all for your replies. I have tried the command typing on another computer and it works fine, I can see the typed command on screen, so I've obviously unchecked/checked something somewhere which isn't making it work on my other pc?
