Hi everyone in blogland! i'm a new member of Second Life and i'm having so much fun! But i have a big problem as set out below:
i hope someone can help me. When i go on line at second life everything is fine but then for no reason my avatar changes by itself. My features change...my eyes drop down to where my nose is....strange clothing appears on my avatar... what appears to be metal bands appear around my neck and ankles....and, worse of all, what looks like my grandmother's panties appear around my feet...None of these items are in my inventory and none of these items show up if i type "worn" in my inventory search...
i have taken off all attachments. i have logged out then back in again. Nothing works...i still have the same problem. i got rid of all the free things i owned and i only wear skin and shapes that i bought.
One mentor suggested that i click on client.....then on character...then on rebake textures. When i do that my avatar is fixed and everything is normal...but then within a few seconds the problem comes back....
i'm so sad...can you help me? Do you think it might be my computer system that is causing the problem?
thanks.
love from,
tara

Have you cleared your cashe? Also, try and TP to a different area. There are objects that can follow you so it looks like you are wearing things you are not.

You got a bug alot of us got, its the texture bug. I call it the marquee bug as you cycle through various textures around you. There is nothing you can do short of upgrading your video card because it is a LL issue thgat they haven't got around to. If you use a different shape than the base, your nose shouldnt move. Also try to avoid High traffic areas like welcome areas because they are on old equipment that has load bearing issues. I have a 2 year old pentium 4 with 10 mbits cable internet (thats almost t3) an I still have issues in those areas.

To clear your Cashe, before you log in, Click the Preferences button. Then goto Network, and click the "Clear Cashe" button. To change your draw distance, you need to goto Preferences Graphics. There will be a number box for the draw distance.
