Repeated Crashes...what's the deal?

Since the latest patch I have crashed multiple times. I've had 5 crashes within an hour and a half with the client seezing up and crashing out.

I never had these problems before the last patch leading me to conclude something is wrong wit hthe latest update to the client.

What is the deal? Is there a fix in the works for this? And if so how soon can we expect to see it implimented?

SL's been crashing for no apparent reason more than usual on my system as well.

Computer specs are always good in this sort of discussion, as well as attempting to figure out if there is a pattern as to what conditions the crashes occur.

I have an ATI x800, a gig of ram, win xp sp2, latest omega drivers, pentium 3.2 ghz dual core.

I'm not really able to discern a pattern. It doesn't require doing anything complex or being in an obviously demanding environment.

I'm crashing all the time too. I figure it's just the new SL.

I was having that problem, as well as buffer overrun errors on my first attempt logging in everyday. I uninstalled and reinstalled SL, and when logging in for the first time, kept crashing when I'd get the pop-up asking if I wanted to play streaming music. As soon as I'd click yes (or whatever the button is to play it), I'd crash. After letting it crash me a few times, I chose "no" and I didn't crash.

So.... might want to try turning off the stream music option just to see if that's what it is. Could be something to do with firing up the external music player.

Sometimes a download can just get screwed. Mebbe an uninstal and redownload might remedy?

Well, Im crashing more often too. The only thing I can say is: please DO send your crash reports! Best way to help LL and us, I guess!

The crash reporter has been failing 100 percent of the time for me for months now.

What do you mean? Do you get some sort of message? My crash reporter sometimes takes ages, but I've never seen error messages or other visible quirks from that, so I believe mine does actually send something.

I turned off crash report about three weeks back due to frequency of crashes!

Well, last night, in Andromeda, when I crashed there, so did three of my roomies.

Other times, it's when I empty the trash. Etc.

I crash when I empty the trash. Has been happening to me since 1.13. I have also noticed a lot more sim crashings for me recently - but these have mostly been popular shopping destinations (who the heck decided it was a good idea to put 3 of the most popular fashion destinations close to each other should have their head examined )

Generally speaking though, the thing that causes me to crash the most when in a lightly populated sim is emptying the trash and sometimes (though less frequently) opening Search.

I don't get any messages. It just doesn't get done and go away. It just ran now for 45 minutes or so without finishing.

I wonder how many new users experience crashes and never have the crash reporter complete sending a crash report, thus leaving LL without knowledge of the frequency of crashes, then just give up in despair at trying to use a program that not only crashes but also can't even manage to produce a simple dialog box and transmit some data? How many who stay as users turn off crash reporting because it doesn't work, also depriving LL of the knowledge the crash report would provide?

I hope my crash reporter problem is a rare one.

Yesterday I crashed 2 times and I've experienced your very same problem. I hope that the reports are actually sent through and it's only a problem with the logger closing after sending.

Sorry Coco, second para was directed to OP who said she never had problem before last update. Should have made that clearer.

Suzanne, Samantha and Gillian, I'll switch my reporter back on .. it did work before I'm sure, only took a few moments. Merely disabled it due to frequency of event.

........And I have no crashes at all.

Not crowing about it (well maybe a bit) but I use SL a lot and I haven't had a crash with 1.13 - these must be "environmental" in some way - I empty trash, like everyone else - really must get error logs to Linden, or these things just won't get resolved - and it is a real shame for some of us to get discouraged and perhaps go away, when the root cause might be easily solvable.

The 6.12 ATI drivers were causing SL to crash on me consistently with little interaction to the UI. The only workaround I could find was to go back to the 6.11's.

Assuming the 6.12 drivers are the current version, that's what support told me to replace my latest version Omega drivers with.

I'd switched from the latest version stock ATI drivers to the latest version Omega drivers in an attempt to reduce crash rate. I wonder if switching to an older version of the Omega drivers might help? I much prefer the auxilary software that comes with the Omega drivers to the stock ATI driver package.

Email confirmation of receipt of the crash reports might be nice.

Its just not ati GC carashing even the geforce ones as well. This current client seems to be very poor coded. I crashing atleast 1 per 3 hours....ANs Yes i uninstalled and reinstalled and have all the current drivers. At times my UI front page does not even load. It appears the sl client is doing some funky things to my router.
