Prims

Another newbie question for you. Sorry. Is there a quick way to check how many prims you have used in total in, for instance, furnishing a house, without having to check each item separately? I'm sure there must be a short-cut to doing this, but haven't worked it out yet. I have a limit on the amount of prims I can use in a rented house and need to know how close I am to using them all.

If the house is set on a single parcel (meaning no other houses are included in the area), then you can click on the bar at the top of your UI, where it says the land name (or right click a bare spot on the land to bring up the same box), then you go to the second tab.

On there it should list 'object on parcel'.

From there, it will list owner pieces, and others. You would be listed as others, which will give how many prims you have used.

If this land is an area with other people's prims, as far as I personally know, the only way is to ask the owner to double check for you.

The quickest way would be to do a quick check of the number of prims on the land parcel before setting out any furniture and then take a recount as you're going along. This would work so long as the house is on it's parcel of land. What you would do is click on the top line of your screen where you see the name of the sim you're in and position displayed. This brings up the land properties panel which has several tabs. Click on the objects tab and this gives you a tally of the number of objects on that particular parcel.

If the house is not on it's own parcel of land, you could try the following:
1) tools > select only my objects (select / activate that option).
2) CTL+3 to activate your editor. Click on the blue 'more' button to bring up the expanded view. Make sure that the 'general' tab is selected (it should be the default).
3) Pan your camera back a bit until you've got the entire house comfortably in your view.
4) Hold down your left mouse button and drag it across the house. You'll see a large yellow rectangle spread across it as you move your mouse. Any prims belonging to you will be highlighted.
5) Take a peek over at the editor. It should give you a tally of the number of objects and prims you have selected.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for both your replies. No wonder I couldn't find this "by accident"! The land where my rented house is is shared with other residents, but I have a 200 prim allowance to use in my own house. Looks like I'll have to do some playing around, or just take the easy option and ask the owner to check for me.

Alazarin, I thought of your answer, but since the OP stated it was a rented house and wanted to count furnishings, I omitted that option, because it would count the house as prims too.

If it's rented, then try "Tools / Select only my Objects" (or similar), then drag-select everything on the parcel. Since the house is rented, not owned by you, this should only select what you built yourself.
