Hello all,
I've just downloaded today's updated viewer and for some reason, when I do a search for a texture by name in the edit box, it is forever searching. The sim I am in is not laggy, and search in Inventory works fine, but not in Edit box.
Is it broken again? Or am I just experiencing lag?
Please let me know if anyone else is experiencing this. It's a pain to re-texture anything without that search bar in edit working.
Also, when I click on a texture that's already there in edit, it also says Searching forever and never does bring up that texture in search. Also a major pain especially when you don't remember the name of the actual texture.
I hope there's an easy fix.
Thanks!

I had this same problem and found downgrading to 1.15.0.2 fixed it. What system are you running?

My inventory search is borked officially with the new viewer.
When I search for my "mood" ring it can't be found, but backspacing 1 letter and searching for my "moo" ring it is there. I tried this trick with several items and it worked every time. Simply type what you want, then backspace one letter.
Don't you love when they "fix" eer "fi" things?

Lol! yes, I've had that same problem as well.
I swear, one step forwards and two steps back...we'll never reach 2.0 at this point. >.<
And can we really "roll-back" to the last version before the upgrade? The download popup said it was mandatory to DL or else I couldn't play.
Please enlighten.
Thanks!

No it wasnt a mandatory update, you can revert to the previous version. Personally I never upgrade until I have to. That way you can follow the forums to determine potential problems from those that do upgrade versions by choice. give it a week or so to see if its safe to upgrade versions.

Just saw these links to the old viewer in another thread. Completely uninstal your current viewer then DL and instal the older version.

Texture and inventory searches are majorly screwed up again. EXACT, FULL-WORD MATCHES FAIL. In the latest release, you can search for "DOOR" in your inventory, and not find any matches, while a search for "DOO" finds all the doors, and anything else that starts with "DOO", but not an object named "DOO"!

I had this problem and downgrading corrected it. Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else was wondering if a downgrade would work.

Since upgrading to the latest version i have been totally unable to edit any textures. All ii get is a no matches found message and nothing i do helps.
I have tried the backspaceing method but no joy.
Can anybody help me to reinstall the last version of SL.
Thanks

I thought clearing my cache would help. Doing so made it worse. None of my textures load now to build anything. I have no hair or shoes, I can't attach anything, a lot of residents are gray. I can't rez objects out of my inventory. Basically SL has become unusable for me now at this point.
My husband and I dropped our accounts down to a basic a few months back because of stability. This would have been bothering me a lot if I were still on a premium account. Now I log out and do something else. We're through giving our money to this outfit until we see significant changes.

There is a listing for this problem in the JIRA. Make sure you all add your votes to it so LL see it is a problem.
Its code is VWR-740

I'm in the middle of a major build right now, and I can't stop work to wait for a new update that may fix this glitch. I also can't seriously downgrade, because I use multiple avatars logins at once and the insistent "There's an optional viewer available!" message screws up my login, every time.
So I have been seeking work-arounds.
What I found so far is two things:
1: Before you start building after logging in, open your inventory and search for something you know is there. Like "Palm Tree". Wait for it to finish the search. If it comes up empty, close and re-open inventory and try again. Proceed after it's indexed your inventory.
2: When retexturing a surface, if it comes up with no list, close and re-open the texturing window. The second time it opens, it's usually OK.
There are MANY other serious glitches though. The most annoying right now is multi-repeat textures smearing. It shows one repeat somewhere, with the edges smeared to the edges of the prim face. Pretty much have to re-log to see it right after that happens.

Yaaay!! in the texture dialog box - type a letter in the find field at the top, like 'a' ten 'b' and so on. If you know the name of the texture you want - start typing in that name and it will appear. The problem is that the texture box is not showing *all* texture with a blank find field.

Yes, as alluded to, does anyone here have a solid repro for this — search in inventory and texture picker not working? I've definitely experienced it but can't make it happen at will. If you do, please post the details in:

Having the same texture problem
05-18-2007 11:54
I too am experiencing this texture/inventory glitch. In object edit I select the texture, click on the texture box and texture picker opens. I either get a long search with no results or the response "No matching items found in inventory." Of course, all the textures exist in my inventory. The search can't even find the default texture.
It is happening on my Windows XP computer with Dual Xeon processors and began immediately after the upgrade. I haven't yet upgraded SL on my Mac Quad Core and everything works fine with my av on that computer. My partner upgraded SL on her Windows XP dual core and her av is not experiencing the problem, but if I log in on her computer, I get the glitch. Very strange bug.

Old viewer corrects problem
05-18-2007 12:40
I just deleted viewer 1.15.1.3 and downloaded previous version. All issues with texture picker are resolved and things are normal. This bug is very troublesome and brings building to a halt. Save yourself the pain and download the old viewer here: http://s3.amazonaws.com/download-secondlife-com/Second%20Life%201-15-0-2%20Setup.exe
