Yesterday evening I was on SL and after a while my screen became green. That means the SL-screen where everything happens is covered by a green shade!!!
Outside this screen everything is OK, like the toolbar up and the buttons below.
I stopped and logged in today but everything is still the same.
The screen you see while logging in is sill normal; it happens when I am fully logged in.
This green shade happens only in SL; other programmes work fine.
Does anyone know what I can do; it is almost impossible to play right now!!

With 31,500 plus logged in right now it might not be the best time to do much to test anything. But try checking all your graphics preferrences.........and set them lower than you normal. Do the often hyped "clear cache" thing and relog.....that seems to "fix" a lot of things. And if all else fails..........uninstall SL and reinstall the latest version. And you might go and get the "First Look" viewer and try that to see if the same problem exists. And since your problem appears to be graphics related check to see that you have the latest drivers.........or if you do, do a driver roll back to an earlier driver. Hope my limited help works for you.

I cleaned the caches and logged in again but did not help.....
I doubt if it is something with drivers. When I logged out I was in Amsterdam in SL with the green shade. Then I restarted the computer, logged in again and during the login-process the screen showed Amsterdam frozen but in perfect colours. Then, as the login-process was finished and the avatars around me started moving the screen turned green again !!
Any more suggestions?
In case I have to re-install SL do I keep everything I have in SL right now?

Please provide system specs. For starters, the info from the Help / About Second Life information.
Try going to Preferences / Graphics Detail and turn Avatar Vertex off.
A screenshot might be useful.

When you uninstall SL you will loose what ever preferrences you have set in your viewer.......but that's about it. Everything in your inventory is stored on SL's servers and when you log in with your user name and password you are right where you were before you uninstalled. Reinstalling SL is really pretty painless. But try the "first look" viewer.........it's in the downloads section on the home page of this site. It's a beta version but it you are using your regular account assets.......just a slightly different UI with a few features the regular viewer doesn't have. I use it as a backup for my normal viewer. You are on the main grid with it..........not on a test grid. And I wouldn't do much until the population thins a little on the grid right now............strange things happen when the servers are stressed. I would wait till the logged in count drops below 25,000............or better yet, 20,000.

Since the snapshot is fine, could there be something attached to your HUD not displaying properly or moved out of position?

You can try logging into a different location upon startup of the Second Life program. You can go into the preferences button, click the general tab, and make sure the box is checked that says: Show Start Location On Login Screen. Now when logging in you will see a box that says Start Location. You can set it to your home or any other sim name. The sim you were in may have been down or having problems.

Well, I am at my work now so I have to wait trying these tips until the evening overhere.
I did make a screenshot that I saved on my harddisc, and the screenshot is in wonderful colour!! No green at all. So, it only seems to occur after the login-process when everything comes alive!!

As was mentioned above, you may be wearing a green hud
Also try these:
Force sun - midday
local lights - sun and moon only
