Hi everyone!

I am in the process of moving my buisness to a new plot of land on the mainland. I want to be a good neighbor, but having no rules is a new experience (was on a private sim before).

I need to list the parcel that contains my store in search (under land) and to do that I need a TP loaction. I was planning to put larger shop in the sky and set the TP to it so that I could develop the land on the ground more park like. However, it seems I can only set the TP location at 250 meters and below. Is that correct? If so, is it rude to float a building that low or is it everyman for himself on the mainland and I should do as best suit my needs? I know I CAN do what I want, but I really want to be a good neighbor even though I know others around will not always do the same.

Thoughts?

Another options is to have a small show room on the ground and set the landing point there and then offer a teleport up to the larger shop, but I wold prefer to get what little traffic I have as close to as much of my merchandise as possible.

Thanks so much!

I have never tried to make a landing point that high up, but if that doesn't work, there may be another solution. Instead of listing your land in parcel directory, you can also make a classified ad. If you create the ad while in your shop, the coordinates for the ad will read as the location for your shop. Next go into Land Options and select "allow to teleport anywhere" instead of "teleport to landing point only" (not sure what how these options are worded exactly, but they are easy to find). Now if people click 'teleport' in your classified ad, they will land directly in your shop instead of at the landing point. I use this option to have to separate stores on my land: one at ground level (where the parcel landing point is) and one in a skybox (where the ad's coordinates are set).

By the way, I am personally on the Mainland, and would have no problem if a neighbour had a parcel at 250m. Many people have their drawing distance set lower than 250 to save bandwidth anyway.

Thanks Suzy and that is a great suggestion. The problem is that any hits I get to the land search will not lead to the store. I need to direct them somewhere too.

I agree the classified is also important though. Thanks!

You can make the TP land point anywhere along the 768M height range. I have done it on a couple of places now (club and a store)

Customers will appear at the proper height.

This was added a while back - so some may not be aware its possible - Sometime around jan 2006 is my guess.

Hi Colette. How do I do this? I tried raising the store and then setting the marker under the land tab, but nothing happens unless I am below 250. Does it only work at 768?

Thanks :)

Thanks so much you guys. I cannot explain why this didn't work before! I did this exact thing, but the about land tab lost all the info about the land over 250m (reported 0sqm and 0 prims) and wouldn't set the TP. Now it works like a dream.

Thanks again. I cannot tell you folks how much I appriciate the help and advice!

One thing - when i was looking up the exact terms (to figure out how i did it - but you got it working)

If you Teleport from your "MY LAND" information - you dont go to the landing point.

Thanks for checking on that Colette.

I seem to have it set, but I haven't been charges the 30 lindens and it isn't showing up in search yet. Maybe it takes awhile?
