I have referred a small handful of people to SL, and now while reading through the blog noticed that quite a few people never received their referral bonuses.

What is the general opinion of residents with regard to this?

Are their threads from LL addressing these comments that I overlooked?

Thank you,

The one time I referred someone, I received the bonus on time. You are aware that the referred parties have to become premium accounts, and that you will not receive your bonus until they complete their 2nd billing period?

I've just paid my third month's billing for premium, yet the person who referred me has not been paid.

I suspect that there's some esoteric "Simon Says" procedure that we failed to complete properly, although we followed the instructions that were given.

Anyone else have problems with this who knows for a fact that the "referree" went Premium? I suspect there's bugs in their referral process, but little incentive to fix it since the "referrer" generally has no way of knowing when their "referrees" went Premium unless the "referree" advises them, or aids them in pursuing their claim, as I am doing now.

I've e-mailed Linden Labs about this, but I don't expect a response since they didn't respond the last time I e-mailed them.

Time to cancel, especially since going Premium majorly sucks anyway.

Pffftttt... *pets her Premium Account*

It may "sucks" for you, but clearly an lot of people out there find it more then worth paying for.

So what does that have to do with the topic? Are you suggesting that I should allow Linden Labs to defraud people with their referral promotion instead of speaking up and putting my money where my mouth is? Or vice versa, in this situation.

You said the premium accounts suck the person responded to such, no question to why they said that. I like my 500L/week and 512M that I can donate to a group to help them get started in building there land up without needing to pay more. But then I guess now when you go premium you only get 400L/week. and I don't remember did they cancel the referrer bonuses? I don't remember, it is not something I have done much of.

It's 300L a week now, and the topic of this thread is questioning whether the referral bonuses are working. I know for a fact that Linden Labs has failed to pay to pay the one who referred me.

If you start to shout arround that things "suck", you may expect an reaction on that.

From 3 referrals I did in the time I am in SL (getting close to 1.5 year), I received what was promised. So maybe it is better to speak of something going wrong somewhere then using words as "defraud".

Posting off topic, if wrong for others, is wrong for you as well. Your opinion as to whether premium sucks or not, is unrelated to the original topic.

Refering a friend only gets you about L$2K anyway. Thats about $7.50 USD. Amazes me how people can spend hundreds/thousands of dollars on computer hardware, internet service providers, software etc and then have a complete hissy fit when they lose L$7!.

Personally I think your attitudes 'sucks' so you are better off quiting and going away.

I have paid about $35 per month for this game for the past three months. If you think that does not deserve adequate customer service, good for you. It's not good for me. I pay less than that to my garbage company and receive better service. I pretty much don't care if it's your practice to receive poor service without complaint.

So far, all I have received in response to my inquiry to Linden Labs is an automated e-mail response.

Um, yeah, right, I'm supposed to ask other players about billing questions.

That's really worked out well so far.

Still no response from Linden Labs other than the automated e-mail quoted above.

Has anyone ever received a response? If so, did I err by e-mailing billing support, or should I have contacted technical support or something else instead? Should I have responded to the automated e-mail, or should I generate a new one during their working hours, whatever those might be?

I'd love to know more about the referral program too.

Other ones I use give me access to daily stats - detailed information I can use to determine whether the way I am promoting a specific product is working or not.

I'm not doing this for a couple of referrals of my friends but potentially hundreds a day. If conversion rates are good I will plough as much money I can into getting people to sign up as premium accounts. But without proper stats I can't make that decision.

LL please help me help you.

Liralen - e-mailing billing was correct I believe. Sometimes it can take a little while to get a response. I can tell you though, if your contact with LL was inflammatory, accusatory or any other "ory" word, you're less likely to have your issue solved because you likely left out some important information. You need to be calm, professional and detailed in your question/issue. Mention all the assigned ticket numbers with corresponding dates, etc. Have you tried phoning during business hours?

Honestly, I have always received basically timely responses from Linden Lab on issues from bugs to general noob questions on Help Request.

Just a guess here, but perhaps it was your approach. Another option might be that it's a bug and they are gathering data and looking into it.

FWIW, I appreciate Lawl's alerting me that he has been having issues as well.

To be honest other Lindeners, the discussions taking place in the comments portion of the blog regarding referrals are alarming. It is not a question of me getting upset over $7.50; more that I have a small network of gamers that are all starting to join with secondlife that I would prefer did not use me as a referral if I am not going to get that referral bonus anyway.

What I would like to do is come to some concrete conclusion as to any possible bugs with the referral program, or if there is a "Simon Says" thing that I am overlooking.

kthx~dagne
