Ive finally find myself a nice spot and paid a couple of weeks rent and now im trying to get my stock together. Im selling av shapes and plan to package the clothes and stuff (freebies i found here and there) i used when designing the avs as gifts to get the new owners started.
I made a little box and tried putting stuff in, all to no avail. Now Ive double checked and had full permissions. Stuff that i made from scratch work fine, but stuff I want to throw in from other designers dont wanna go in the box:(
Rather stupidly, instead of starting from scratch I modified existing bodyshapes into totally new forms but of course they won't work now and Im screwed coz thats the main product.
Anyone can point out if Im doing anything wrong or a way to do this??

I can speak from hard-won experience on this issue since I just opened a shape shop about two weeks ago.

My first "experimental" model turned out so well, I wanted to use it. But, like you, I had carelessly used an existing shape without the permissions I needed to sell it as my creation/product. You CAN recover from this mistake, but it's a really tedious chore.

In Edit Appearance mode, open every single goddamn option and write down the value, then start with a clean shape where you're the creator and enter in every goddamn option. Believe me, after doing that just once, you'll remember to check permissions BEFORE you start making a shape.

I also include a default hair style and default eyes, so the same permissions profile for the shape needs to be applied to these items.

Another important note to remember is that the contents of your sales box will take on the permissions level of the MOST restrictive item inside the box. I decided against providing any freebies because it's just too time-consuming to check all the permissions for those objects to ensure that they exceed the permissions that I set for my shape (mod/copy/no transfer).

And finally, since I include a notecard with embedded photo references, I need to set the permissions of the photos/textures to mod/copy/transfer otherwise they will not display in the card.

Of course you can do that.

IF the item is marked (by its creator) to allow gift/transfer, and it should match your other permissions as well.

For example, I sell my shapes as Copy/Mod/No Transfer, so any freebie object that I would want to include with that shape would need to be marked Copy/Mod/Transfer by its creator.

The "Transfer" allows me to give it away, while the "Copy" and "Mod" ensure that those items don't restrict the permissions on my shape or other items sold with it.

I'm pretty new at this, so I'd certainly appreciate confirmation of my understanding of this issue. So far, this is what works for me.

I just went through this myself and had few people help me, ran into few clitches but I think I got it.
It took me bit of time to figure out content tabs.
I tend to sell items as no transfer, mod and copy yes.
Except my art images.
It bit confusing.
One sells contents through first window,
the sells copies or orginals.
Orginals remove total item be it content or actual item.
If you want to sell contents within the box you need a duplicate of the actual box filled with items with that marked sell.
In main edit just select contents.
If for example its item that is on display no contents you sell copies within edit.
Now if I am wrong and confused please someone correct me.

OK im gonna triple check the permissions and that 'gift/transfer' button. I'll see how it goes and report back.

If you want to sell contents within the box you need a duplicate of the actual box filled with items with that marked sell.

Oh, yeah, this is yet another level of complexity in the marketing process.

How do you plan to sell your items? What kind of vendor process are you going to use? I'm a little shaky on understanding all the permissions issues involved for various dispensing methods, but here's what I did:

My shape, hair and reference cards are all placed in a pretty box object. Everything, box included, is flagged as Copy/Mod/No Transfer.

I created a vendor prim which is nothing more than a flat rectangle with a texture that has the words "Buy This Shape" applied ot it. The permissions of the vendor prim are "Copy/Mod/No Transfer", but it is also marked "For Sale", with L$500 price tag and sell "Contents Only."

Then I set the "Touch" menu to "Buy."

Now, when a customer touches the "Buy This Shape" sign, they are offered the option to purchase. If they accept, they receive the pretty box and all its contents, but not the vendor prim itself.

This approach avoids the confusion (mostly mine) of having a pretty box inside of the same pretty box selling its contents.

I kept losing the entire contents having to restock because I couldn't figure out the settings right for first week.
I have friends stop by or I check on items and nothing was left inside, One time the texture literally disapeared.
The thing is I notice I can't see buy but if you get alt that has no mod rights or friend o check items it helps to do so if you're starting out not quite sure about the settings.
I was certain I had settings right but I didn't.
Also sometimes there werid glitches I noticed that I don't entirely understand yet so check your prim vender occasionally, etc.
My friend bought the first copy of painting texture vanished i.e must be wrong setting.
Item was no mod, no transfer. She was able to buy item, then buy it again numerous times to herself.
I have no clue why.
I attempted to use and build several other type of freebie venders but I just couldn't figure out how to do it even with instructions.
I am utterly frusterated especially with the multi-view vender right now.
I don't even want to buy another one when I can't figure out the basic free ones.
I did find this buying and selling hud through metraverse.com(hope name is right)
that I am considering using also but I am just not sure yet.
It works like having slexchange within the game it has small box that you can scroll different items, buy items, you can also display.
