You know..the wonderful thing about Second Life is that 'anything' is possible, anything at all. People in RL who would never dream of running their own business can start up right here in SL; it's the easiest thing!! So I started wondering what sort of ambitions or dreams SL residents had..was it simply to buy a piece a land and build a nice house..or something a little - or even a lot - more ambitious..? Here's my ambition/dream..just humour me on this one folks..I'm a big U2 fan..seen them live loads..but I've never seen them live in SL. NO..I don't want to see a bunch of avatars with 'Bono, the Edge, Larry and Adam' above their heads prancing about a virtual stage. I'm thinking SL links up live to a U2 concert and for a fee (the proceeds which would go to a charity of U2's choice) residents could teleport onto an Island where the concert was showing on a huge screen. Wouldn't that be the greatest thing....or is it just a dream! (well of course it's a dream..kind of cool though huh) If your a 'Stones, REM, Barbera Streisand etc' fan just replace U2 with the band/performer of our choice in the above, nice huh!!! And here's something worth considering..Second Life's currently the biggest thing on the internet (why else would Reuters and the BBC report Catholic missionaries entering SL) and potentially capable of pretty much anything it wants.... Anyway that's my dream/fantasy..what's yours

Hmmmmm. I had a few, actually. I wanted to make my own dress that I'd consider pretty (check), learn some scripting (check), own my own "castle in the sky" (check), run my own shop (check), and meet some cool people (check). Have completed all my goals but one, and that one's nobody's business but my own.

My SL dream is to adapt myself until I have let it change me as much as possible and see who I turn out to be.
Of course, for some, that is their nightmare..

My dream now is to be some kind of interior designer for SL (I guess I watch too much HGTV, or used to before SL). Or if not that, I'd like to sell fully furnished homes and skyboxes. Don't know if I really have the skills for it, but what I'm building now seems about as good as a lot of stuff I see for sale. I think I've come a long way for someone who just wanted to look around and see what it's about.
The ultimate dream would be to bring something entirely new to the metaverse. If I knew what that might be, I wouldn't tell anyone. I'd just try to do it. --KC

I don't have the funds to buy enough land for what I'd like to do. Assuming I had unlimited resources, I'd love to build entire worlds in a sim big enough for you to escape alll the tiki huts and malls. I'd like to put you in an alien envrionment to wander around with alien "plant" life and strange fauna and strange sounds. Or put you back a 100 million years ala Jurrassic Park with life sized realistic dinosaur avs. This would be a virtual living museum that would change its theme as often as I had the enregy and resources to allow. That would be hugely fun, but I know it would require a team. One person couldn't handle it I think.

My dream is to become one of the biggest content creators in Second Life Furniture and Prefabs to start, with experimentation in other stuff as well. And keep a line of lego-like sculpted building pieces going! In other words, "Sell so I can build more," instead of "build to sell more." I don't see this as a solitary pursuit. For me, Second Life is a _social_ platform; it is the unique mix of meeting people, sharing, building, and a RL economy that makes it so great. And so, even on the commercial side I wish to collaborate instead of being a builder hermit. Perhaps eventually I may try to develop a sim or two. Not so much sim development as community development; my role would not be as landlord but as organizer, seeking out similar groups of people and develop a sim for them, to their desires. The sim would then be truly theirs even if I "own" it, and would go to the renters first before making changes. Of course, this is a risky pursuit and may end up collapsing, but it is worth a try.

My SL dream is to become a good clothing designer and eventually open my own male clothing range and be confident enough to sell the clothes I make.

My SL dream is to own a sim. And make it an Amish Sim. No fancy scripts. No fancy textures. All is plain & simple (less lag too!). Ok, so I'm weird But I'd keep a "dark Secret" somewhere on the sim. Like some bizarre Lovecraftian Temple or something. Or maybe a Polka Sim, where DJ's play Polka & you old folks can dance to yer hearts content!!

My ambitions, are simply to control part of the market, at all costs.

I have to dismiss the unrealistic dreams first - making big money by selling stuff, speculating in land or being a top escort all require considerable investment from RL in order to advertise or pay tier. Like in RL, most business ventures can expect to enjoy very modest success at most. My dream is to carve out my identity in SL and be a worthwhile resident. I would like to own a sim but my RL agent has said no! It seems that various things give one status in SL: How long you've been in SL How much you know about SL What you look like How good you are at building What you own This is all a bit superficial but I think it is difficult to be 'deep' in SL

In many ways, there are several layers to SL, some things you can perform in SL as you would RL, and somethings you can do in SL you can't in RL. One of the 'horizons' within SL is to fulfill a dream, become your inner self, explore things that in RL some may consider 'unreal'. From a business aspect, there are many new fronteirs to try out at relatively little cost, new avenues that can allow you to reachout into RL, using experience/reputation gainned within the VR environment. SL is the internet future, where content can be seen in full 3D, experienced in a Virtual Reality. This is also true for 'meeting' people utilising a VR persona, something in RL many may shy away from. There is no 'Odd' in SL, just imagination. When I go for a business meeting in SL, I don't try to make myself 'presentable' wearing a shirt and tie, I am able to acceptably be 'me', the persona within SL, the flamboyant expression. For those business's that cannot accept who I am in SL, it is they, that are in the wrong place, not I.

hm...
yeah, i'd like to build my freeform rp place/area/world - the mythical forest. as a wilderness area, where only animal avatars are allowed to live. and there'd be cave dens and tree houses... huge mountains with cliffside dens for dragons and griffons... big grasslands for horses to run. oh yeah, and a coral reef for all the aquatic flora and fauna.
ah well, but not many people really want to be animals. even some of the time. oh well.
as for realisitc goals, being rich and famous would be nice. well, virtually rich, even. id like to be known as the person who did several things considered to be impossible. oh you know, like REALLY realistic quadrupeds. (yeah, back to animals again.) but if im gonna be famous, i really do want to be rich along with it. i been famous and poor, it wasn't as much fun.

My dream would be a daily consistent smoothly running game format, so I can explore all of my SL as well RL dream formats, while developing into a good well rounded educated SL citizen, who contributes lovely things back into our worlds. Not losing L funds for items purchased would be a bit smaller dream to achieve I have just at present, not losing what was rezzed, moving about better, and understanding how to set up my house teleporter, ahh yes, sigh,, now,, those alone would make me most blissful lol Blessings & Best Wishes in all of your RL or SL dreams!

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

The possibilities are endless for anyone's sl dreams.
My dreams (as of now.. who knows what they will be in the future) is of course to own my own sim. I was thinking a mall with club and housing... but that's been done many times before. Hmmm, maybe somewhere to explore, buried deep inside caves will be the shops and mall... I really don't know lol.
I really just want to be happy. Learn all I can, explore every sim, meet new friends, enjoy my hobbies on sl (dj'ing and clothing design). And eventually my biggest dream could come true.

I've got a bunch of 1/2 finished projects that I'd like someday to finish & sell.. SL will never be able to match RL income but it'd sure be nice to offset tier and (assuming I don't suck) see people use & enjoy things I've made.
As for a dream for the grid, I'd love to see LL get back into the world some. Build some roads, wander around and say howdy to people, stuff like that.
As a dream for builders, I'd love to see LL focus some of their 'new stuff!' energy on things like making LSL better (switch/case, on_rez (string), etc, etc, etc) and an in-world sculptie editor.

Ambitions? Dreams? Build up a few sims just for fun with wierd, wacky and wonderful themes with a few friends. Build real communities (not rental stuff.... bringing people together through SL). I don't really have the time, skills or money but I can still dream Also would like to bring in a few bands I know in RL (no-one famous but they all sound great) to do gigs in SL or at least set up a venue in SL where interesting bands can stream their live RL gigs to an audience in SL. And to have it also work in the opposite direction so that SL live acts (myself included ) can stream out live to RL venues (with added video feed from the SL venue where they're perfoming). Nothing 'big-bucks' in my ambitions... just a few things that I'd like to do.
