You mean to animate it's shape?
Well you can script the sculpy vertex map make to be animated. I did this to animate a single sculpy into a panting dog tongue. Maximum rate of update it 5 fps (though the multi prim call trick might raise that)
Of course the first few times though it loks like hell till all the frames are cached :/ It's only 4 frames, a longer animation would take longer to cache.

You can't use a sculpty as a video's skin texture, even if you put it on top. -S

All i want to do is change the image on the surface of the sculpty. (the fact that i also want to do so on an animated(shape changing sculpty) is another issue)

I think what you want to know. . .
07-09-2007 10:15
You can wear prims, even sculpties. . .It's not "skin" per se, but you can put an avatar together that way.
A prim can display the media texture on your land, which can be streaming video. . .that's how the TV sets you see around SL work. HOWEVER, the land has to belong to you.
I just "wore" a freeview TV set that happened to be in my inventory. It showed me a picture, so I guess it can get to the media field in your land settings. But I can't run quicktime here, so I can't see if it can actually show video. My guess it it probably could, tho I'm not sure fexies have that capability.
Just turned the freeview into a sculptie. It still shows the picture, so, if this is something you want to do over your land, or over land where you can control the video stream, the answer to you question seems to be yes.

the skin texture OF a sculpty like a texture image of a painting on a prim like a color or the image on the surface not about wearing not about animating the shapes not about uvmaps or "sculpty textures' which has come to infer the 2dsculpting mapper.
?

? Did you mean stream a video onto the the sculpty or did you mean an animated texture, such as a gif sometimes is? Either should be possible, frankly and DanceswithRobots just proved that you can use it as a video screen... Coolies! If we could break up the streams on the parcels, imagine the possibilities.

Thank you, whew! i appologise for getting a little bent out of shape, i was just so excited by the notion i couldn't accept that people might be having diffiiculties interpreting what seemed a simple question. I forget that there exist many kinds of and levels of language barriers.
DanceswithRobots trials 'seem' to indicate success, can we go one further? and yes by video i meant both animated texture like gif and streaming quiktime type movies. onto the the sculpty.
DanceswithRobots if you have a working video url we could try it out on my land.
It works!!! try it our simple as that.

like I said in my earlier post, I took a freeview, and turned it into a sculptie. My land can play video just fine, but the computer I was on earlier can't.
Now I'm home on my computer and have a video playing on a sculpted prim, so, whatever project you have concerning running a video on a sculptie should work fine
