I liked the old way a lot better. Different categories of information were in different columns, making it easier to read. Now it's all mushed together. I used to be able to just scan down the list of names to look for a specific transaction, now I can't. Similarly, it used to be easy to tell at a glance which items were selling best; now that information is buried in the jumble.

I think it's hard to read too.

The format needs work, to make it easier to read, but we now have totals for the day, and that is a HUGE improvement. Thank you Linden Lab!

Yes I like the totals on the bottom but does it make it harder to find transactions. How about a search in transactions and some type of sort tool.

Its a good start. Glad they listend (to me
![]() I would like to see a couple things: Seperate the name of the person sending/receiving and the time into sperate columns again. Make the totals more granular. ie, sepreate Currency Exchange transactions, and other LL costs lke classifieds and parcel directory fees. _____________________

As a merchant, this new format is an absolute NIGHTMARE! It was clearly designed by someone who has no practical need for the data, beyond idle curiosity.
They collapsed the date, type, description and source columns into one formatted "details" field. Well, that is just dandy, if you're merely casually reading the log to see what you spent today on your shopping binge. But it makes it virtually impossible now to manage the data with sorts on any of those fields! Quick... sort a saved file by payment type and by date within payment type. Can't now. Quick... sort it to eliminate all the upload fees. Or to list JUST the Upload fees. Can't now. Quick... sort by any payment type at all... Can't! THIS SUCKS! I want the old format back, PLEASE! If I have to live with this one, I'm going to have to write a custom Excel macro to unsnarl all that data and make it searchable and sortable again. And even then, I doubt I can. (Edited to ad the following): *Screams and tears at hair while downloading a test file* *Deep breath* OK... SO FAR, they haven't hosed the downloadable Excel file format version. That still has seperate columns for ID, Type, Description, Debit, Credit, Time, Resident/Group, Ending Bal., and Region. Region? What the heck is that? It isn't populated yet... It appears also that while they limit the web display to 500 records, the Excel downloable version can go longer than that. Mine was 567 transactions, when I asked for a 30-day report, while the web presentation capped it at 500. _____________________

I like it. Ceera scared me there for a minute though - glad they didn't muck with the spreadsheet download. The web view will take some getting used to, but I think as an "at a glance" tool to see where you're at, it's nicer. The totals are a welcome addition.
As for Region, I do hope that will be used for recording the region the transaction took place in. It's a step in the right direction to know which outlet a given product sold out of, for stuff set directly for sale as opposed to being sold out of a vendor. |

yes, just noticed this, taking up so many lines per item may look nifty, but really limits it usefulness. At least the Excel format is the same.

I really like the new idea, but one thing I'd like to see is that if they are going to make it look like a ledger, then why not have it look like a ledger. I mean, like when you look in the checkbook, each transaction is on either a gray or white 'line' so you can see it more clearly.

It's a step in the right direction to know which outlet a given product sold out of, for stuff set directly for sale as opposed to being sold out of a vendor. Put the sim name in the name of your sales objects. The transactions history shows the name of the object the sale was made from in the Description field. All of my vendors are named "[region] [item]" Or do you mean objects for sale where the customer directly gets the object they are paying? In that case, do you really sell so much that way that tracking the sales locations matters? _____________________

I don't like having to scroll down so much to read a long report. But as long as they leave the Excel format download in seperate, sortable columns, I can live with this change.

The main reason location matters to me is so I can easily see if a particular location isn't producing any sales, and either work with the owner to improve that, or just pull out. (Don't wanna pay rent for a space that isn't generating revenue) And all my product is set directly for sale.. right click/buy copy. I suppose I could still put some identifier in the object name though - thanks for that suggestion!

It's horrible.
They've chosen to make it look "tidy" at the expense of actual usability. I need to be quickly scan the column of buyers to confirm that someone has actually purchased an item. Tucking the name into a block of text under Details makes hunting for buyer names A NIGHTMARE. I have a hard time believing that whoever re-designed the format has the least idea of how this data is used or ran any usability tests with real SL merchants. _____________________

Tucking the name into a block of text under Details makes hunting for buyer names A NIGHTMARE. No it doesn't... Assuming you're using IE as your browser, just hit Control-F, type the customers name into the search box that opens, and click the Find Next button. I'm sure other browsers have a similar function. |

I don't like it. But seriously, who scans web pages? That's what "find" is for.

It's even easier with firefox. To search for Zaphod Kotobide:
/zaphod <-- that's it, no pressing enter, the focus follows each cumulative letter combination as you type. No it doesn't... Assuming you're using IE as your browser, just hit Control-F, type the customers name into the search box that opens, and click the Find Next button. I'm sure other browsers have a similar function. |

Just more proof that LL is clueless as to what we actually need. When a question from a customer comes up what we need is to be able to easily find the transaction for that customer, before it was easy to scan for it now almost impossible if you have more than a small number of transactions.

Not liking this at all.
Transactions need to be one line horizontal. Having this new format makes it impossible to skim through. Right now the transactions look like this to me: words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words you sold something $1 words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words _____________________

I like it.
They do need to add our weekly/monthly profits and debits, though. |

It's ok. I think it's a poor way to use the space, each item takes up more height on the page with a lot of wasted horizontal space, but I guess it would print out nicely or something.
They didn't mess with the .xls file yet so that's all I really care about. I download that every day. _____________________

I would like to have separate columns as all together makes statistics way hard to do..
I, as i ting many others, save all transactions in excel files, and upon it i make statistics. So i can easily maintain a list of all my customers, statistically check each vendor to see when a certain mall booth is going well or bad and so on, just make a lot of statistics out of data.. Now it seems to be much harder to "extract" just the name for example, or the place.. A further improvement would be appreciated ^^ |
