I've found instructions for photos and sounds and how to create notecards by typing, but I can't discover how to import text?? So much to learn!  |

Is this for a sign or for a notecard or for a script? For a sign, you have to import it as a texture to place on a prim. If for a notecard or script, I highlight what I want to transfer (say in Word) click copy, then go to the script or notecard and click edit>paste. Prolly an easier way, that's just the way *I* do it. I assume you are reffering to importing text from say a document on yoru PC to a notecard. If so then copy (Ctrl-C)/Cut (Ctrl-X) and paste (Ctrl-V) should do it.
The same would apply from a document to chat window.
If in reverse there is the new logging function which can help or using copy ONLY as you copy the word from history (slight glitchy though as if anyone talks while you do it it messes up). Notecards are alot easier so long as you have the right permisions (Modify I think is the needed permission).

Thanx. I have done some RL writing and it's easier to tout to SL sources if I can drop a note rather than having to request an email addy. I just couldn't get cut & paste to work for some reason. TY

Pam the biggest issue at the moment is this new thing called "focus" and seriously I'm not tlaking lack thereof. You have to be very explicit with SL and these notecards. Slap them around a bit and stuff. Make sure after you copy or cut your text from Word (or whatever) and you have your new notecard open click inside the writting area just before pasting. NO MATTER WHAT THE SCREEN SAYS! I find often the stupid thing changes focus to say my view or my inventory or my chat. I had lost o fissues with focus at first and to make sure I understood things at first I just ran around pasting "test" to get a feel for how the client worked.

You'll find that nearly all standard Windows shortcuts work with SL, in addition to just cut & paste:
ctrl+Z = Undo (Redo in most apps is ctrl+shift+Z, but in SL it's crtl+Y)
ctrl+C = Copy
ctrl+X = Cut
ctrl+V = Paste
F1 = Help
Alt+F4 = Quit
Tab = Move cursor to next field
Shit+Tab = Move cursor to previous field
Ctrl+PrtScrn = Full desktop screenshot to clipboard
Alt+PrtScrn = Current window screenshot to clipboard
Shift+LeftClick = Add to selection or subtract from selection
There are lots more, but those are the most common ones.
