Land reservation spaces ... in the Auctions.
They are for islands or mainland?
And on the subject of names I think someone was listening when I said in the forums about somewhere called Speen (English village) being a good name ... Speenu is a region now.
I was kidding guys. LMAO.

Reservations are for spaces where nothing exists yet. i.e. you pay LL in order to reserve that space on the grid in case you want to buy an island.

Oh, and I forgot... I think the general LL rule is that you can't reserve a space that's directly next to someone else's private island unless that person agrees. I think it might be a thing where both parties have to talk to LL and state that this is okay with them. So if you want to reserve a space, it should be at least 1 sim (grid space) away from all other sims, (except for your own; you can buy a block of sims all right next to eachother to make one big island if you want.)

One final note on reserving grid spaces - you cannot do a reservation unless you are already a concierge user, i.e. you already own at least one island or 1/2 a mainland sim or more.
For what its worth, they are mostly handy if you are planning to make a larger island or if you are considering it, and want to, well, reserve some space so you know nobody else can plant an island there before you're ready.

But I was under the impression that if you buy a second island, you can then relocate your first island. Is being in a particular space on the map that important?

-Atashi I'm ex-concierge and have half a private island ... I only sold when I had to move rl. Just before the land boom D'oh! oh well it couldn't be helped.

I'm not sure if they'll move the first island for free.. they have a bunch of different rules about moving them around the grid, sometimes it costs money and other times it doesn't. I don't know if a particular gridspace is important per se, since it's just x and y coordinates. Maybe you have a lucky number though, and want to build there? However, if you start with one island and have dreams of building a continent one day, it's a relatively cheap way of ensuring that you have the room to expand without having to worry about running out of space or someone else dropping their island in two spots away from you - you can make a checkerboard pattern of reservations and lock up a large chunk of grid, then only you can build in that area later. -Atashi

I believe you can relocate your original island to the same (next to) location as that of your second island..apparently free of charge (but don't take my word for it) Oh yes...so you've bought an island..and want to expand..that's going to prove a little difficult if you're not in control of the area around you..reserve..reserve..and reserve some more..
