Repeats per face resetting on link?

Just wanted to know if this is happening to anyone else...

I've got my textures all adjusted (rotated, repeats per face), and I link my objects together. ALL textures in that object reset themselves to the default rotation and repeats per face. =/ On top of that, when I attempt to correct the textures, the values just bounce back the the defaults. It's frustrating, to say the least...

Is anyone else getting this? Is it some new random feature that's worked its way into SL since I've been gone?

I have seen this too. It seems intermittant and I can't quite put my finger on exactly what causes it to work sometimes and not others.

I've been working on a building, and periodically link it all together to take into inventory to save where I'm at. Sometimes when I pull it back out, the textures are all reset as you describe. Other times when I pull it back out, the textures are all still set the way I had set them.

I suspect that the order the prims go into the link set, and/or what mode my 'Edit' window is in, may be influencing when it works and when it doesn't, but I can't be sure.

It's horribly anoying, to say the least.

Yeah, it's been happening on and off with me... thankfully it let me redo the values on Cloud's sword after they'd been linked...

Should we bug-report it? If it's just happening on and off, we can't be expected to duplicate it all the time.

Thanks for letting me know it's not just me or my lag.

I have bug reported it.

When I try to change the numbers on one face, it will on occasion change the faces on all the linked prims, or a good many of them, anyway.

It also will flip the texture in one or the other flipping fields.

I have bug reported it.

This has gotten so bad that I have had to start over on the house I'm currently retexturing about six times now.

My latest idea: Unlink the whole house, retexture the prims, then link it back up.

From what was said above, though, this won't work either.

I would say they either fix this, or there is going to be very little reason to be a builder from now on. Textures really do need to go where you put them, and then stay how you put them.

This random business is just impossible to work with.

Thank you Koala. Perhaps we should all bug report it, then.

You have a point about being a builder too. This issue should be given high priority. This new feature of random texture values is... *sigh*

I'll go in-world to see if the textures reset on things I've already made.

I'm so pleased you mentioned this, I've had the problem of these fields skipping merrily to various numbers and I assumed it was my noobie lack of knowledge! I've been intending to do more learning at the Ivory Tower thinking it was my lack of understanding!

So is it happening to people on single unlinked prims as well? I have been fighting texture repeat values for weeks now and I can't seem to understand why they randomly change themselves sometimes and not others. I assumed I was doing something wrong. Is this actually the same bug?

That sure would make me feel better.

Mine was a single prim. I imported one of my own pix as a texture and fixed it to a 'frame' to form a picture for the wall. However it takes ages as the repeats keep resetting as soon as you move from that field or within 5 secs.

In my case, here's how it goes:

I select an individual linked prim, select one face of it, and change the offset texture on that face to, say, .488.

This will change that prim face, just as it always did. But every 4th or 8th or 10th time, it will also change the textures on half of every other prim face in the linked set to .488.

Ditto with changing the repeats from, say, .2 to .6.

I first noticed this straight after the last update - totally messed up a very large staircase system I was working on too. *grumbles*

It happened to my house last night. I nearly wept. :(
