Yes, the new update "should" fix privacy issues.
Aside from that, it's people on your Freind's List not Calling Cards that is the issue. You can have any Calling Card in your inventory and all it does is provide a shortcut to open that person's Profile. Nothing else can be done with the Calling Card.

You can also use calling-cards to start up multi-user IM sessions. Drag all the calling cards of the people that you wish to talk to into a folder, and then right-click the folder; you'll get a menu option to open a "conference" IM session with everybody in the folder.

Calling Cards, redux
12-27-2006 06:17
I'm really surprised how little people seem to use this feature. One reason may be that you can only use CC's in a face to face situation. I'd like to have a "vistor's book" object on my land so people who want to talk for some reason can drop their calling cards in it and I can come and see who's who, later. Has anyone made an object like this? Is it impossible?

Calling Card use!
12-27-2006 08:18
One other use for calling cards is to sell land to only one person. I tried to sell some land to a friend and the only way to put his name in the "sell to" designation was to get his name from a list of callng cards.

Not true, you can type the persons name in the window where you pick the calling cards find any avatar name that is in SL search.

When do Calling Cards get added?
03-12-2007 14:33
I've noticed that I've gathered quite a few calling cards wtihout every actually giving or getting them deliberately. I know you get one with a Friend, but in what other ways are these cards added? It seems like anyone you chat with for more than a minute...a card gets added automatically?
