On the Uk keyboard, and I believe other European keyboards, there is no Alt key to the right of the spacebar. Instead there is the AltGr key which in SL has the effect of pressing both Alt and Ctrl. Us left handers use the mouse with with our left hands and the modifier keys with our right. Therefore when combined with the mouse AltGr becomes rotate and AltGr+ctrl becomes pan, but we have to reach cross to the left Alt key for zoom.

An alternative is to convert the AltGr key to a normal Alt key. This can be done wth a registry hack. I have used sharpkeys to perform this and it seems to work well.

Hope this helps all you other left handers out there - but being left handed you've probably figured it out already.

You know, I'm as left-handed as could be, but I've always used my right hand to steer the mouse. If my right-hand isn't free (ie. if it's using the mouse), my left-hand over-compensates on the keyboard and does the job of both hands. But my right-hand isn't that versatile and is limited to the side of keyboard for which it has been trained.

My mainly right-handed colleagues have been amazed in the past to see somebody typing at over 60wpm with a single hand whilst ponting things out on screen with the mouse, or just drinking a cup of coffee, but I think if more right handed people were trained to use the mouse with their left-hand, their dominant right-hand would overcompensate at the keyboard similarly.

Relocating Alt Gr panics me because I correspond with friends in France and Italy in their native languages, and that key is crucially placed for accents.
