How do they work and why is the groups that I joined nothing happens not even a "hello" when I hit the enter key?
Any good group suggestions?

The best groups change from person to person. Just find a few groups that share your intrests, and try sending a group IM to get a conversation going. If that group seems particularly uninterested, or uninteresting, leave it and try another one. I a few groups on my list that I really really wish were more talkative (one group in particular should never be silent given the basis it was founded under), but alas, I've been sticking with them anyway hoping that things will change.

Yeah some no one is there or I can't seem to send message.
One I left the pop up messages got annoying and just got sort of frusterated with it all.
Thinking about just not bothering with groups but I do wish I had more building and art helpful friends to ask questions.
I really frusterated right now on the texture thing and few other things. It would be nice to have few more people to bug about things when I run into problems.

Well a good alternative may be to hang out in the Building sub-forum and ask a few of the builders there. Most people on the board are very nice, and I'm sure if you asked politely you'd have more than an offer or two to contact them in-world for some building/texturing help.

I'm a novice builder myself as such have no real helpful info on the subject to offer, but like I said...the building sub forum seems a good place to start looking for a little assistance.

Also if you haven't visited the Ivory Tower Library of Primitives that is an excellent place to start, and you can probably find people to help you if you have any questions there. Another place to learn is Texture Tutorials by Robin Sojourner. You can find both of these places by doing a search on the name under Places.

As for IMing a group, click on your IM tab, and if you're on "New IM" you should see the groups that you're in listed at the top, followed by the names of your friends (those who are currently online will be listed first). Click on the name of the group you want to IM, and now you're ready to type a message that will go to everyone in the group who happens to be online at the moment.
