Problem with couples animations

When I do an animation for couples with my boyfriend like dancing or you-know-what it very often happens that the animation works perfectly in my screen: Both of us are moving in sync, but my boyfriend sees only himself move and my avatar sitting straight up and doing nothing.
I have used an alt account to look at what happens and then I saw this happen when I forgot to switch off my animation override, but even when I do switch it off and my alt sees the both of us moving, my boyfriend still sees my avatar motionless.
It also happens when he dances with other girls. A remedy is for him to log out and back in again, but that often destroys the fun we have when we feel like jumping on a set of balls spontaneously.
Does anyone recognize this problem and does anyone know of a way he can prevent it?

From: White Hyacinth Does anyone recognize this problem and does anyone know of a way he can prevent it? Yes...it's actually a common problem. A few updates ago it was much more widespread, but yes..it does still happen and I'm sure LL is well aware. As far as workarounds or preventions...there are none that I know of. Sometimes the animation will kick in after a minute or two, other times relogging is the only option. My condolences.

The problem is normally related to the time taken caching the animation, what a lot of people dont realise is that animations are client based, this means when you sit on an animation ball that you have not used before, the sim needs to send the animation to your cache on your computer before it will play for you.
The reason one of you may appear to stand still for one person is that one of you has used the set before(and therefore has it cached already) and the other hasnt, when your partner sees you standing still its because the sim is taking its time to send the animation to his client, its also why jumping off will fix it, by the time you have done that the anim has gone to both your caches.
With animations in SL you can think of it like if you sent the same video to 10 different people telling them to play it when they receive it, depending on the speed of the postal system and how far away they are, none of these 10 people will be watching the same part of that video at the same time will they. This is exactly whats happening in SL.

I had a hunch it was working that way Craig, but it is good to have that confirmed by the guy who made some of our favorite animations So maybe my friend can speed up the process of caching by temporarely switching off the music stream? That would free up some bandwidth on his Internet connection and on his CPU...

Often times, a relog will help.

Hmm, now i will know if my Sweetie has been messing around on a pose ball without me when he shouldn't have been. He is in trouble now if he has been. Hope he doesn't catch me.

Craig, you are right, but I there are different problems as well. Often when a friend will offer me a tp and I tp to that location, none of their pose ball animations that they use will work on my screen no matter how long we wait. It's not that the animation is taking a long time to be sent, more like it's not being sent at all.
A relog seems to be the easiest remedy.
