What is that squeaky toy-esque noise??

On occasion while wandering through a sim I encounter a noise that sounds like a dog's squeaky toy, sometimes accompanied by a tinkle-bell sound, and not always when other avatars are around.

Somebody please enlighten me. :(

I'm so glad to see this post. I came across this a few nights ago, and was worried that the coffee was starting to get to me!

...No idea what it is, though. ;)

i remember when we had all those grid attacks ages ago ( before summer) that some of the self replicating objects made that sound. That doesn't mean that it's a griefer tool though.

It's probably Figtree trying to think again.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Thanks guys... I've been hating the forums for the past few days, but that just totally made it worth it! :p

Pinkfeather and Strangel, just out of curiosity, are you on the voice client, or the non-voice client? It would be interesting to know if it's heard in all clients or just the voice one.

It drove me nuts enough that I finally took my skybox down and rebuilt my workshop on the ground to try to escape it since I only heard it while idle and airborne. Oddly enough, that fixed it- but I've only been grounded for a day now, it might come back.

I'm totally loving the view on the ground though. I'd underestimated the lure of trees and a little pond of my own. I even managed to hide all the spinners after 2 hours of precise tree arrangement. So I guess the mysterious sound was useful for something.

Sometimes I go there even when I don't need it. It's a great place to think, is suprisingly comfortable and is the only place I can get any peace - being the only room with a lock on the door.

I sometimes like to read there too.

Might it be the noise made by a wild slime drone or , umm, the other annoying following objects that look a bit more like lanterns, umm, the things made by the green light swarm spammer.

You might be able to record the sound using an external sound program.

If you copy the dsf files in your cache right after hearing the sound, then change the file extensions from dsf to wav, you might be able to find the sound file and let other people hear it so they can help figure out what it is.

Sounds like that green squeaking follower. I cannot believe those survived the missing inventory crisis. lol Just watch around you or beside an avi close to you, if there is a green thing with googley eyes, that would be it. The best bet to get rid of it, TP to another region.
Oh, and the tinker-bell noise, maybe 'slave bells', they jingle when an avi walks.

*SQUEAK-Jingle* hehe :P

I've been hearing this noise since before the mandatory voice update, so I don't think that's it. :P

It seems like there's multiple sources for the squeaky/tinkly noises! I know I've heard the noises in the Isle of Wyrms sandbox, as well as on the TP landing area beach at the Aglarond sim (and other places I can't pinpoint at the moment). Sometimes the noises seem to come from other residents (the tinkle-bell noise) but the squeaky one often appears out of the blue when other residents are nowhere near! I haven't seen any green googly-eyed things, though...
