I just bought a spaceship. Now what? How am i suppose to use it? can i use it without buying land? can i actually go into space? Yes im a noob but any help would be appreciated Using it depends on if it is scripted for use or not. It might just be a box in the shape of a spaceship, without any ability to move. You can use it without buying land if you find a place that allows you to 'Rezz' or build on that land, but you would get into trouble with the landowner if you used up his prim allowance (the objects his land can support) without asking him. You could rezz it on a sandbox (search for 'sandbox') so you can try it out, but most sandboxes have a return period to clear them after a certain amount of time. You don't have to buy land to rezz your object permanently... you could rent land. finally, there is no real 'space' on second life, but if you rezz your spaceship high enough and turn your settings to midnight it might be an acceptable illusion of it, especially if you rezz a distant planet and a few stars around it. Hope this helps Imogen |

Unfortunately, no, because the landowner in SL owns everything vertically above his or her land. You would be using somebody's prim allowance, no matter how high up you were. If you owned or rented the land, you would be using your own prim allowance, so that would be fine. Imogen |

I flew a spaceship around Inspire Space Park in Shinda a few weeks ago. It was a lot of fun, numerous planets, astroids, etc. to dodge and fly around. You may have to search for some land around it where the owner allows people to rezz objects so you can rezz your space ship and fly over to Shinda.

You can rezz objects in Shona which is several sims East of Shinda and fly over, if you can't find another location closer.

You can rez it and use it in many public areas, but you will need to pick up after yourself when you leave.

http://world.secondlife.com/place/26cfcb34-20d0-252b-7f4c-05a9f6fbf3fb You can't rezz any object, even a space ship way up in the air, and expect it to stay there if you do not own the land. The land owner can always delete it and most land has auto-delete turned on so anything that does not belong to the land owners will be deleted after so many minutes. _____________________

The land owner can always delete it and most land has auto-delete turned on so anything that does not belong to the land owners will be deleted after so many minutes. Auto *return* - not auto delete. The item does not delete - it will be in the object owner's lost and found folder. And how I wish more parcels had auto return set to 1 or more, to prevent prim litter and squatters moving in by the scads. OP, yes you can 'rez' the ship over a sandbox for instance, but you will be using up the prim allowance of any parcel you rez it and leave it in. Sandboxes have longer return times so that people can build, but to regularly misuse that to 'live' there is considered a bit rude. More equitable would be to simply 'rez' it there and then fly it around Second Life as you will. Keep in mind not everyone appreciates low flying aircraft over their home or business. It's always best to buy or rent your own land, if you can. And perhaps, fly your ship along public roads, or over unpopulated regions, or places known to be friendly to flyers. _____________________
