I was given a big shock last night over a boxed set of furniture I was selling. Someone purchased it yesterday and messaged me to say she is able to copy and resell everything. I have checked the box and the properties on both the box and the items inside are all copy and no transfer, but once purchased they turned to full permissions. Luckily I was informed of this by an honest person so could run and take it off sale. Hopefully previous sales of this don't have the same problem, I don't tend to sell many as people make their own sets as I now have more items than when it made it up. Someone did do a thread here after the big update reporting some problems on permissions, so did run then and check. Due to permissions showing correctly on inspection, I didn't worry anymore. I am really scared now to box sets up to offer a discount for them, was even about to make up new sets this week Anyone else discovered this problem?

Hah! I was getting perms problems in the other direction. Items I had boxed up as mod+copy were coming out as no perms.

make sure you check BOTH sets of permissions.
1: the in-world permissions. throw your stuff on the ground, edit, and look in the first tab under permissions.
2: the inventory permissions. right click the stuff in your inventory (after editing the in-world permissions) and look at those permissions.
make sure they match and are what you want, because it is possible they dont. btw, the properties you get when you right click on an item in a box are the inventory permissions. you gotta take them out and inspect them. and yes, it's all a big pain. especially since the 'save object back to contents' tool is apparently not working!
if you did all that, then there may be a bug. (all of the above is a 'feature' i guess :X ) keep an eye on it and see if it happens again.

Anyone else discovered this problem? Yes its a bug that never seems to say fixed I think its an asset server thing where things revert or get jumbled. Some claim this doesnt' happen any longer, but it does if you sell things that are boxed do random checks every once and awhile. I always find one or two items that have decided to become full permissions or no permissions. I had a set of boots in a box that i sold out of a vendor (shoe box box..) one boot had no permissions and the other had full permissions. Neither were ever set to that they were supposed to be modify copy..

It is very annoying and incredible when you are the creator and owner of something (notecard, goods, object etc) and you get a denial of access/mod because you don't have sufficient permissions to do so. I always check to make sure I have the correct group tag on before doing anything like that, even log out and back again after changing the tag, to make sure the servers are refreshed to my status... but it's not foolproof.

Yes I have frequently found the permissions on boxed objects to change on thier own, especially after an update. This is a huge pain in the ass and frequently results in creators products being ripped off.

I must say that I find the whole issue of permissions to be quite baffling at the best of times, and any bugs that mess up previously corrected permissions is only going to send me right round the bend Good thing it's almost Friday ...

As others have been finding the same thing, I think for safety's sake, maybe better to not box up sets. With whole sets of furniture, that could wipe out my whole business if all the boxes reverted.

Funny things can happen if you change the permissions of the box while it is in inventory. Or if you adjust the permissions of the items while they are in inventory, then put them in the box without rezzing them first. Here is a recent thread on the subject from the building tips forum. /8/f1/164764/1.html

Indeed, and when you have several hundred boxes of saleable items in world..well it's just impossible to check the screwups that can occur on perms after practically every update!
