Name tag visible from outside building

I have a very small rental shop. When I am upstairs doing work, I do not want people to know I am there. But from outside the shop in the street, you can see my name tag floating around. What is the range of visibility for this to display? Is there any way to prevent it? Does this mean that people in the adjacent buildings (which are separated only by a shared wall) can see my name tag too?

Maybe try setting your workshop at about 500m up in the sky. More privacy, less interuptions.

btw, the way peolple see your tag depends on their preferences.

Well...doesn't the mini-map show you as being present?
If I were to enter your shop, and see no one around, but notice a blip on the mini-map, I would assume someone was there...if the was a little green "T" I would assume you were above me, and have a quick look see.


Perhaps my question is: is there a way to hide your presence on the mini-map or otherwise?...not merely rendering the AV invisible in-world, but actually removing it from sensor search or otherwise...

...that would be disturbing, if possible...

I can't go up to 500m - I'm renting the shop, and I have the 2nd floor set as my "home" location. We can't go up into the sky.

And I don't care about the green dot on the mini-map. That is at least anonymous, if someone looks at it.
I just don't want my name visible from the street if I am hiding out up there.

Is there any way to prevent it? Does anyone know what the range is that it is visible? 10m? 20m? or what?

the range depends on the other ppl's preferences as well. As far as going up, couldn't you rez a platform in your shop and set the "z" factor to 500m? Then rez a box, sit on it, and set the "z" factor to 505m. Presto, a sky high work shop. Just a suggestion.

By the sounds of it the rental agreement or coveneant precludes her building in the sky.

There is no way to block your tag from showing. There is also no way to remove yourself from the mini-map, or the big map for that matter. Tag visibility i think is around 20-30m or so, I'ld have to look to be sure. If you don't want people in the shop to know you are there, the only real solution is to work somewhere else.

My question is, why do you want to hide from your customers? I put my shop right above my store for the exact opposite reason, if I'm around I want to be approchable and available to help my customers.

It is my husband's shop he is renting. I just hang out upstairs sometimes, and have it set to my home location. I just don't want everyone outside the building to know I'm up there. He is usually downstairs for customers.

Doesn't sound like there is any solution to it, however.
