Axing Flying Dick Griefers in Anshe Chung Incident

A Slashdotting of an article where Anshe Chung gets attacked by a band of scripted dicks in the middle of a public interview seems too ludicrous to be true. To me, at least...

I admit that I'm a newbie at owning land, but there's an option in "About Land" where you can disable other residents (other than those from your own group) from running scripts on your land. Had Anshe done that, would this flying dick attack never have happened?

---

The article mentions she's trying to file suit on anyone who takes photos of her and anything created by Anshe Chung Studios(?). It's good additional publicity for SL, adds intrigue and scandel, but it's as absurd as hanging the paparazzi who, somehow, manage to take naked pics of Brad Pitt... (especially with Lara Croft around on guard!)

Moreover, though the event may infuriate, it might have a positive effect. Though such lowly creatures are paid a nice bounty for their work, they do help spread publicity -- the good kind, in this case. (Yes, sadly, there are people in the world who get their first glimpse of Brad Pitt via uncensoredrus.com.ru.bz.tv ... not a domain, but u get what i mean ;) )

But, practically speaking:

Humble Suggestions from a Not-So-Humble Newbie (Feel free to critique.)

Even if she does have a lot of objects created by independent contractors, she could add them to the group to enable scripts run by trusted sources only. Or, she could (especially if you're Anshe Chung) pay extra to have a text-copy of the code and assemble it into an object yourself.

The attack didn't occur on her land, and so she had no control over set-ups for the land. It was after the attack that the interview relocated to her property where no further attack was forthcoming.

Your question was rhetorical. This is a support forum, for people to ask for or give help with using the Second Life program, not a place to offer opinions on lawsuits or start forum arguments in order to pass the time.

There are a number of resident operated forums which have a purpose other than asking for or giving help with the Second Life virtual world.

i've been attacked and even ejected off my land it can happen. If i disable building and scripts people can't play golf so that has to be on the result is a park where greifers can use cages etc to eject people into space. Turning off options doesn't always work if you want people to be able to do stuff on the land. Anyhow I believe it since I have been attacked /shrug

Suezanne is right about this being a forum for the help of others.

if you truly want to know an answer to your base question, i would suggest starting a new thread asking whether griefers can cause scripted attacks on land that doesn't allow scripts.

if you would like to discuss the particulars about the incident, then please feel free to use one of the third-party forums.
