Firstly: I always turn off camera restrictions in the Client debug menu. this allows one to view underneath the landscape and it is an amazing place, sometimes. Ha. The things people lose and don't know to where they go. Have a look around... Underground...
Now. Around the sim I'm in, Ungnyo there are underground objects in 3 of 4 corners. Neatly intersecting 4 sims. They appear as darker patches on the mini map. One is a beach shack, another corner "had" a piece of my build (blue patch. How th', what th') along with a space vessel's turret and the still spinning radar, although separated. And another has a huge prim, a big box. All are well underground, maybe like z=0. They don't count on the object meter and I cannot return them.
Should I call a Linden?
Anyone else seen them?
(Is there a tour company that can show the ancient lost builds of the subterranean levels.)

From: ed44 Gupte Do they show up on the parcel's prim count? No they don't show in prim count and I cannot return them. Very weird as, like I said, they are in 3 separate corners so affecting at least 8 sims.

I've had this before, though not on my parcel. (I tend to police my whole sim for "wayward" prims and such). While it can be lsot prims from builders, it's usually the wierd effects of simcorners. Think Bermuda Triangle.
File an AR and make sure to include a pic of the prims. Be sure to include co-ords (or as close as you can get). I've seen then up to -50m down on the Z axis.
For the person to AR, I used "Govener Linden" *Grins* While being somewhat funny, it is also correct in that the Gov takes care of all land in SL so is ultimately responsible for those simcorners. I suggest making sure to tell LL this in your AR so they get the chuckle not all ticked off ^.~

Yes, I've seen this. If you go to the Client menu and turn off "Limit Select Distance", then you can select the object no matter how far down it is and click on "Edit..." to find out who the owner is. You can also try to click on "Return" in the pie menu... but if it there is no "Return" menu item, the object is not on your land. You can contact the neighboring landowners across the sim boundaries and ask them. I don't think this is AR-worthy. If it's on your land, you can return it (if you have turned off "Limit Select Distance" , and if it's not on your land, then you probably don't have a case. It might be positioned on someone else's land but protrude onto your land, but that's very hard to determine for distant objects due to tricks of perspective. One way to do it would be to create a prim of your own and send it down there with a known X,Y position and see if it intersects the other object. It may not be worth bothering with, for deep underground objects. Objects positioned on someone else's land don't eat up your prim count even if they protrude onto yours... I don't know if they steal any other resources. If a prim in a linked object is on your land even though the root object isn't, and that prims contains scripts, which sim executes those scripts? Perhaps a private island owner with adjacent islands can fire up "Debug Scripts" and find out.

The reason for the AR is not to get anyone in trouble (hence using Govenor Linden's name in the report), but to make LL aware of them.
Prims anywhere use sim resources. Useless prims like this should be removed when they can be. It would be better to report them through a Second Life Land Forum, but that forum no longer exists, so LLcan deal with an AR to get teh information.

I let it go for a while but another large build turned up. So I sent an AR. Governor, goviner, govenor Linden does not come up in the list so I used Guy Linden. Another person said he had also sent the issue on but nothing happened. Hey , what's new.

In my sim, if I have View Transparent on, I can see all of my HUD attachments underground at the 0,0,0 corner. Seriously. Took me forever to figure out what the hell it was, but I can edit a HUD attachment, slide it around on my screen, and see the transparent "ghost" of it move at the same time. It is so bizarre that I showed my wife to confirm

Right after I sent that AR the Grid shut down completely. Boy, they responded to my AR very quickly. How's that for service. *chuckles to self- get real*

I noticed them sometime ago on my SIM, Wicked Isle...they appear to be some kind of "shadow" or "duplicate" of objects around the SIM.

Earlier today I was working on some furniture, and got catipulted off a sit-target and wound up trapped at 0,0,0! I was stuck there with a bed, part of a building, some plants, and for a few moments, another Avatar appeared there too. After about a minute though I re-appeared back where I was supposed to be. It was kind of surreal. -Atashi

Griefers
02-11-2007 23:01
This has happened in my sim also as well as New Paris South. Nothing but griefers. I elected to just return/delete the items and ban the individuals who left the junk there from the island. In some cases it DOES show up on prim count if the objects are close enough to the sim border. Items underground are common as well.

We get stuff going to 0,0 quite often on our islands and it is rare it cannot be selected and either returned or deleted. Sometimes you have to do it a number of times which leads me to believe there are multiple copies overlaying each other, so you think it isn't deleting or returning. If you get a invisible something, somewhere on your island you usually find the culprit is a house gone off sim and ended up down there. Dont ask me why it affects an area elsewhere on the sim above ground because I don't know.
I have called Lindens out to deal with it when it gets really stubborn through live help, if I cannot move it and they have always turned up pretty promptly and courteously dealt with it.
It apparently happens when someone tries to rez an inventory item that crosses a property line and the other property has the restriction boxes, allow object entry and object creation unticked thus causing a restriction onto that land. That is why you get parts of houses and vehicles there a lot because they may be rezzed like I explained, or in case of a vehicle may have been driven into the area that doesn't allow entry.

Follow up to my last post. The use of the automatic house rezzing scripts causes a lot of these problems as they seem to throw the house all over the plot before settling it down and if it throws them onto adjacent restricted land it can split them and send bits off world. I know because I have tested one of my house builds on my island plots with one of these scripts.

I have a really bad habit of losing control of my mouse when I'm trying to position an object and accidentally FLINGING it to god only knows where.
Most of the time, the object returns to my Lost & Found within a day or two, but I probably have contributed to prim litter in my sim. So I may go dumpster diving this evening to see, just for fun, whether I can find some of my flung objects at 0,0,0
As for recovery, can't you Edit and reposition the object back to your own property? Last week I flung an SL Boutique vendor somewhere, and that really was an object I needed to recover. I finally found it using some bizarre combination of loosened camera controls, view states and a zoom from waaaay above that turned the sim into a big black hole with my items glowing yellow. There was this little tiny square patch off to one side of the map that turned out to be my lost vendor prim. I was able to drag it close to the clump of all my other glowing objects, and when I emerged from the Twiliight Zone it was right smack dab in the middle of my property.
I have no clue where exactly I found it: up in the air, down under ground, on the sim boundary? With all visual cues swallowed up in the black hole, who could tell?
But I definitely want to play with those controls again for some more inter-dimensional exploring.

I know why =)

I hit the 15k prim mark on my island of Zenlan last week and went wayward prim searching. I found the pile of stuff in the corner and ran a few tests. I discovered that trying to rez an object with the wrong group tag on resulted in that object being sent to the corner as punishment. "Bad Object" lol
Shame I can't post a picture. We have one casino with "group" dance pads and it appears that if you dance on the pads with the wrong group tag on you also get sent to the corner. When checking it a couple days ago I found 3 people down there dancing while away and all with improper group tags on for the dance pads. Funniest thing I've seen in weeks.
