Is there a amount of objects you shouldnt go over? I have went to around 26,000 on a few occasions and after a while I will have strange inventory issues and then find I only have 17k -20k objects.

Not that i know of. My inventory was around the 24000 mark for several months and nothing amiss happened. I eventally decided to box up alot of the stuff that i hardly ever use (or never use) but don't want to get rid of and managed to get my inventory down to 11000 items. The only problems i encountered was that deleting large amounts of items tended to make my client crash. And, of course, my inventory's beginning to bloat up again. Time for another inventory cull methinks.

If you have an overabundance of textures, Memnoch's Madness! The texture organiser there is fantastic.

I always try to create a logical folder-structure, for example..

Clothes:
- Formal wear
- Beach wear
- Sports wear
- Leather
(and so on)

Landmarks:
- Houses of friends
- Nice places to remember
- Fashion shops
- Home decoration shops
(and so on)

Works for me. Sure, you have to move new things to the right folders.

I have something similar to Morwen to manage my ~16k items, though I still have lots of stuff not properly sorted, because I'm lazy and it's mostly freebie's junk.

To keep them from clutting up things I have a main "Unsorted" folder and several "Unsorted" subfolders under the various catagories such as clothes.

I also quit splitting up boxed outfits into shirts, pants, ect... I find it just makes getting dressed take longer to put together matching outfits anyway, and it's easier to remember how to find them when I keep the outfits together, even if I just want the shirt or something. Similarly I've pretty much quit sorting out the LM's, and notecards, ect... from the folders created by the boxes, because it just became a pain.

I do need to do a thorough culling/sorting, but at least I can function as is.

Also, just to mention it my mom (Kira Rosewood) sells scripted items which can be useful for storage. They are called Stor-It, and you can find them both in these forums, and on SLX.

I have a Hair less than 14K items, and i get the same thing every once in a while. It's a minor Bug, the system just Hangs up while searching out ALL your inventory items.

Try this,

Search Inventory for two, or three of your most common search words, That can Kickstart the search, and add more of your items to the compiled list. If you are still short of items search again Five Times using Each of the Vowels.
Each time you execute the search, wait and watch the File count at the top of the screen. when it stops climbing towards your total, Do the next search.

It's worked for me a Few times when my Inventory list has been short by Half my items. Give it a try.

A store called Thinc, sells a competing item. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Kira's does, and it doesn't look as nice, and it is 3 prim vs her 1 prim....

BUT, it is copyable, where hers is not. Has similar features (and I believe it was out first because i won mine in thinc's lucky chair about a month before Kira advertised hers here in the forums). I like Kira's better for asthetics and function, but i use the Thinc one more because i can make copies for various uses. Just another possible solution.

Another one, i made myself. I was inspired by something i saw in Sensual Cassanova's store. She had made objects to look like clothes racks in a clothing store, with the clothing hanging on hangers. Very ingenious, I thought. Then I thought, i have an armoire in my SL house and the doors work. Why not do something similar. So i made clothes shaped prim objects and "hung" them in my armoire. My partner scripted a "give on touch" so i could place an outfit into the prim that is in the armoire and when i click it, it gives me a folder of the contents.

I like your closet idea a lot! I have tons of clothes I could stand to put away. But, one question regarding the following:

"My partner scripted a "give on touch" so i could place an outfit into the prim that is in the armoire and when i click it, it gives me a folder of the contents."

What if somebody accesses the closet either with or without permission to be in your home. Do you also have it scripted to only allow you and possibly your partner, to access the items within it?

Graciella,

Yes, my partner added a check owner. Actually you can find a similar script at Yadni's, but it doesn't have a check owner function and it isn't as efficient as it could be.

I should also warn you about an LSL function limit regarding no copy items. I'm no scripter, so please excuse me if i mis-explain this:

There are 2 LSL functions that can retrieve the contents of a prim and give it to you, the owner of that prim.

The first, will take all copy permission items and put them into a folder that has the same name as the object. So, say you have an outfit called Blue Dress. You put this in a prim and name that prim "Blue Dress". When you unpack the dress, the script runs and creates a folder named "Blue Dress". It then copies all Copy permission objects (except for itself) within the prim into that folder and gives the folder to you. It will not copy "No Copy" items.

The 2nd LSL function -WILL- move the no copy item from the prim to your inventory, but it will not create a folder or allow you to choose where the item goes. Instead, it puts the item in a default location. Which can be rather a pain, since the purpose is to organzise ones inventory and dropping it into a default location defeats that purpose.

There are ways around this such as only putting copy outfits in the armoire and leaving the no copy outfits in inventory.
