I recently signed up for a premium account for 1 year. At the time I paid the membership fee (26 November, 2006), Linden were advertizing that I would receive a L$400 stipend every month for the duration of the contract.
I have noticed, however, that while my stipend has been paid, Linden only credited me with L$300, which is NOW the advertized rate for new premium accounts. Can Linden just reduce the stipend at their whim, or am I legally entitled to get my L$400 every month?
cheers.

I think November 1st was the day they started paying new sign ups the 300L stipend. So if you signed up on Nov 26...you're getting the amount they said they'd be paying.

From: Joseph Worthington So if you signed up on Nov 26...you're getting the amount they said they'd be paying. Sorry, I'm a bit confused by your answer. Do you mean, i SHOULD be getting the amount they said they'd be paying? OR I AM getting the amount they said they'd be paying? becasue they said they'd be paying L$400 (as advertised on the website November 26, 2006) and they're actually only paying L$300. Should I complain to Linden?

I mean you ARE getting the proper amount. As best as I can remember, all accounts that went premium on and after November 1st were to be paid a reduced stipend of 300L.

http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/10/16/sl-economy-stipend-change-for-new-accounts/From: someone New Premium accounts that are registered on or after Wednesday November 1, 2006, will have a weekly stipend of L$300, down from L$400. Stipends for current Premium accounts are not affected by this change. It's the date you went premium that counts, not the day you originally signed up. It's entirely possible the site still said $400/week when you signed up though, they're not really quick on updating that in all the different places it's listed.

I signed up around mid november, just before he did. I remember reading 400 somewhere, but can't find it now. I received 400 last week, only 300 this week. I assume that 300 was supposed to be the stipend and it just took them awhile to make it the proper amount.

Ok, thanks Joseph.
So you remember that all premium account stipends were reduced 100L as of November 1st. And I remember seeing premium account stipends advertised at 400L as of November 26th. One of us must be wrong.
Is there any way I can prove this? Are there any other users out there that signed up in November? Or better yet, November 26?
(and yeah, I PAID the premium account on that day)

It's quite possible you did in fact see them advertised at 400L. However that was a mistake on LL's behalf, as they did make several announcements in Oct that they would be reducing the stipend come Nov.

After signing up and trying to find the same information again, I began finding the 300 stipend notices about Nov 1st. Ah well.

So, if I can prove it, Linden is surely liable for false advertizing. I'm not trying to wage war on Linden or anything, but surely they should be held accountable for a mistake. You can't advertize one thing and deliver another.

Well, as of November 1, stipend did go down to 300L$/week and it was changed on the web page later that same day [ http://secondlife.com/whatis/plans.php.] Where it may not have been changed is online under world>account history>planning. It still says 500L$/week for ESTIMATED stipend???

I signed up in November 10, 2006. I evaluated all the options and I didn't feel like I had to go premium for a 300 L$ weekly stipend. 300 was what I saw on the website.

There is a secondlife.com typo that as of 3 days ago still said L$ 400/wk for premium accounts. I'm new, born only 3 days ago. At the very end of the "create a new AV" set of pages, after choosing your name and whatnot, you have the option of creating a premium (vs. basic) account. On that page, it still says that if you go Premium, you will get L$ 400/wk. Luckily, I had read elsewhere in multiple places that it had been decreased more than a month ago to L$ 300/wk. I peeked around and realized it was probably a typo. (A pity, I might have gone premium if it had been a limited time offer for L$400.) Hope that helps. Hey, first post

thanks everyone for your replies. it sounds like there were quite a few contradictory typos spotted around various web pages and sign-up dialogues. So I guess LL has some answering to do for all those who signed up in November... and a couple of extra QA dudes to hire.

When I signed up my alt, the sign-up page still listed $500/wk if you went premium right now which was the primary reason at the time for going premium on my alt. I did send a few emails but other than an automated response, nothing came of it.
