Help me, my Av is broken :( pretty please?

Okay here goes...

Firstly i was on SL when they deactivated the logins, so was inworld milling around building, then i logged out. When i logged back in my shape had changed and my eyes had turned almost black, i was also naked *blushes*

So im thinking hey thats odd, and go into my inventory to change my shape and eyes, where i discover when i try to edit them i get a wee pop up saying "appearance can't be changed until clothing and shape have been downloaded. I think 'hmmmmmm glitch?' So i log out and log back....no change......i seek help from friends inworld and the say to try in other regions, especially LL run server ones. So i try it and over the past 4 days have tried in about 20 different places, and nothing.

I decide it cant hurt to uninstall and download sl again, try it....nothing...no change....i cant wear clothes (other than onject attachments) i cant wear shapes, eyes, skins, nothing. Being an escort in SL 5 days of this is affecting me quite a bit, not to mention i look rather unlike myself.

Being a paying customer i submit a support ticket, the reply? "try logging in in a different region" i swear i could have kicked some ass by this point if it werent just my laptop in front of me. Ive also rebaked, cleared cache, went to help island (none of them could help either)

So all in all my Av is f****d and theres nothing i can do about it, LL arent doing a job lot to help, im stressed and annoyed and contemplating cancelling my premium account, i thought the point of paying was to get more help when required.

I need help!! please if anyone can shed light on my situation please please do, im almost at the end of my tether, its sunday and ive been like this since tuesday, a day or 2 fair enough but almost a week? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Do you happen to have another computer to try with? I know you've cleared cache and reinstalled, but SL leaves a lot of crap scattered all over your machine, so it would be a nice debugging step to see if the same behavior obtains on a *really* fresh install.

It's certainly possible that some server-side corruption of your Inventory is wedging the download, but somehow I'm getting more of a "client-side communications" vibe from this. If you could somehow "pre-Ruth" yourself, it would be a great step toward figuring this out. (There's a clothing debug menu somewhere, too, though I've never found it to actually tell me anything that wasn't obvious.)

How are you connected to the Internet?

What is happening is that the system is not properly downloading assets, and since it's not a widespread problem, it suggests to me that there could be some weakness or slowness in your connection.

If you can rez prims, that may mean I'm wrong about that ... but it sounds like your shape, skin, eyes, etc. are not downloading from the SL servers to your viewer, and that's a connection problem of some kind.

Do others see you that way?

If so, then the problem is on LL's side, not yours.

Four days is a bit much. Go back to that Support Ticket and reopen it (there's an option for such and it assigns the Ticket a new prioity in the que). Be sure to include all the things you have tried to fix the issue. From relogging in other regions, to rebaking, to going into appearance mode, clearing cache, uninstalling/reinstalling SL, etc. List it all.

Remember, when you write a Support Ticket, word it as if you were talking to a n00b that has no clue about SL. Why? Most Lindens don't go on the Grid so really do not know how the world works. It's actually quite pathetic on how clueless they are as to how things work at times.

By detailing all you can, those that recieve the Ticket can route it to the proper personell that do ahve the knowledge to help. From my experiances, LL Support is fairly specialized. One person does land parcels, one does inventory load failures, one takes care of teh cute little kittens in the dish cabinets on thursdays with a full moon out.

Though if your friends see you as normal, then it's time to start looking at your connection and router. This might also be in your PC with yoru vid card, RAM or motherboard (for the bus transfers). At that point, you might get help in the Technical forum from those that understand things best. Here, we are mostly general knowledge with a smattering of tech-heads tossed in lol

Here is a couple of things you can try:
On the client menu you will find Character, then choose Character test and choose either male or female. It will force load you. You will look like a newb, but then you should be able to wear skin and clothes etc.

Also on the client menu there is something called Clothing. This will bring up a window with all your clothing items. You can wear clothes from there even when you cant wear them from inventory.

i can rez, build, edit everything like that, infact just finished building a house
im connected using broadband, directly to the phoneline using a cable

No, only temporary.
It will force you to load, then you can put on other things.

Go to the website. Click on Support in the left hand column. Follow all the folderol meant to discourage you until you get to where you can actually submit a Support Ticket. That's what you have to do to actually get through to anybody who can actually help you these days.

I've seen this before. Sometimes changing skins helped, sometimes not.
