the idea is basicly to have a slightly modified version of the copy bot moving mirroring the customer of a clothing store and eitehr randomlly, or acordign to a predefined order, or based on the customer's inputs would instead of copying an aspect of the customer's avatar, place some of the itens avaiable on the store on the copybot avatar to allow the user to really preview stuff on their avatar

edit: ps: btw, I'm sorry if this isn't the place to post this, I just couldn't find a beter fitting place :/

hey, that's a really good idea! Let the customer try on the REAL versions of outfits, but on the bot!

That's brilliant! :D

too bad I don't sell clothes, or I'd do that in a heartbeat.

We bounced around ideas earlier when we were trying to think if there were any legitimate uses for copybot. This idea was mentioned.

Unfortunately, it's not feasible for copybot, not in its current form at any rate.

Texture/apparel assets are stored as JPEG2000 textures, which are sent to your client. Your client combines all your clothing/skins into one texture, which is uploaded (temporarily) to second life. This one texture is what all other clients see.

Copybot has no understanding of JPEG2000. It only comprehends asset IDs, not pixels. It lacks the ability of composite clothes and skins together. It can only express "make me look exactly like that person over there", not "make me look like that person, wearing this garment".

The idea of Copybot isn't actually new - someone demo'd this exact functionality to me in SL some years ago. The only thing that's new is libsecondlife released a similar tool for public consumption.
