Very new person, very lost, please help!

Hi all - I've read through the FAQs and I've got to admit, I'm lost... Yesterday I logged in for the first time and was going through the initial training etc, then my system crashed, and now I can't find how to get back to that training section. I've gone round in circles for ages, and I am really confused, and have to admit, getting a bit frustrated and losing interest.

I'm sorry if this question is easily answered, but will someone please put me out of my misery?!

I just gave you 2 LM's in world, one for Help Island and one for New Citizens Plaza.

If you are still struggling with this tonight around 7:30 pm PDT, I would be happy to offer about an hour of help. Just send me an IM.

Your best bet is to contact Live Help (via the Help Menu at the top of the screen) and explain the situtation there. Only a Linden can return you to a Help Island once you've left.

Optionally, if you click the MAP button on the bottom right of the screen and enter "Public Help" in the REGION box, clicking search will bring up a list of islands that you can go to even after you've left your original orientation island. Clicking one of the region names and then TELEPORT will take you there.

Also, there are several resident run groups than can help you. I'm sure one of the others who frequents this list can suggest them, but I'm drawing a blank right now.

Thanks, I think the problem is that I can't find the world... from logging in, where do I go? I thought it would be more obvious, so not sure what I am missing??

If you still are having trouble:
log in
go to the bottom toolbar check for those messages on the IM button.
IF not
go to the button marked search
in the search field type: help island
hit the button marked: teleport.

Thanks, but when I log in, it's not taking me to the World... so I can't see IMs and I can't see the usual inventory etc, it's just the home page for SL, I see "What is Second Life?" "Showcase" "Business Partners" "Developers" "Community" "Support"

across the top menu bar, and info on what SL actually is, but nowhere for me to log into the world. But I could be being daft and naive!!

Will try logging out and then back in and see if I have any more luck!

Are you trying to log in via the website, or are you running the client on your computer?

You cannot get to the world through the webpage - you have to run the program you downloaded and log on through that. What type of computer are you using? If it is a PC running Windows, you should be able to click Start --> All Programs --> Secondlife --> Second Life. If it's a Mac or you are running a version of Linux, you'll have to have someone else tell you how.

Perhaps I need all of it downloaded... hopefully this will work - am 9% into the download, so will wait and see!!

Secondlife doesn't run off of a webpage. It's a program that you need to download and install. Once installed, you will start the program, and log in from there. Lots of people make this mistake.

The first place it takes you is oriention island, which will teach you how to move, walk, look at things using the camera controls. and some other stuff. After going through the island, you'll come to a place that will TP (Teleport) you to the main world.

I'll be in world later this evening, after 7PM SL Time (which is the same as Pacific Time).
