no copy items go missing

Hi,

I recently bought 3 items that came in folders as a gift.

When I dropped the folders into a giftbox, the nocopy items just totally disappeared, and nothing was in the gift box (this was by draging the folders onto the box).

I have been reproducing the problem and found if I edit the box and drop the folders into the content window, it works.

I can reproduce this problem every time.

needless to say I am rather annoyed that the 3 gifts i paied good money for are gone, 5 mins after i bought them.

Anyone got any ideas on this one?
Eckky.

Well, first of all I would go under the Tools tab, more, and select Report Bug. Fill out a detailed bug report, and make sure to describe how to reproduce the bug. Then, I would IM the merchant you bought the gifts from and calmly tell them that you found a bug in which no copy items are devoured by SL. Tell the merchant how to reproduce the bug. Hopefully they will believe you and give you a replacement. Sorry this happened to you; good luck.

According to Cory at the townhall on thur, you are SOL. Filing a bug report will do nothing as LL is now taking the stance that we "create at our own risk."

Most of the store owners understand that this problem is happening and will be sympethetic. Happy to hear you did get the items back.

I've actually had a couple of customers get back to me on the response of their bug reports containing nice phrases like: "not our responsilbility."

I meant to file a bug report to fix that problem with dropping objects within objects. We already know LL will not compensate people except for special cases. To my knowledge, dropping an object into another object by dragging it on to the object on the ground (which then becomes highlighted) should work. I know it works ok when I drop scripts into an object on the ground. The dropped object certainly shouldn't just disappear; that has to be a bug.

They've -always- taken the position that we "create at our own risk". Filing a bug report or better yet putting the issue into Jira wouldn't be about restoring the lost content, which is hugely impractical to do, if not impossible, it would be about fixing the problem in the client which creates the lost inventory problem.

Ok, this might be totally off but give it a try just for giggles coz I've done this:

You say you you dragged the folders onto the box?

Try looking in the contents of the floor prims, or any prim that was around the box when you started dragging.

Coz with lag being what it is, ya might have dragged the contents of the folder into the prim under the box, or over it, or whatever.

It's a long shot and probably won't work, but especially if you were on your own property and your house is not "locked" (Edit/More/Object/Locked), it could happen.
