"Sudden"new update bugged up?

I was playing SL waiting for my application into the SL army[lol]. And i lost connection and didn't realie upntil i looked on my connection status i repaired it but wastoolate i lost connection to the region. So i tried to get back in..connected and it said there was an update...SO i'd do like anyone elseand downloaded it..it finished i got past the installbit...THEN when i tried to open the client..it crashed.
I thought it was just a little crash so i tried again..it crashed again. So then i restarted my computer and double clicked the SL client...it said client starting up client i thought oh yes it's working....but....it crashed allofasudden again.....so i tried it crashed..i did exacle the same restartedcomputer turned it off still crashed..i think the update wasn't suppost to be or it was..it's just bugged so i can't get in.
Can anyone help me out here? thx

When it crashed did it send a crash report automatically? This is the first revision of a major release. It may take then a few days (or even a week) to work out the initial bugs like you are experiencing.

According to the Linden Blog, the problems are server related and not a result of the new viewer. Just bad timing evidently.

Still can't get in, but the login error message is coming up quicker. I guess it's some progress. I'd go to my local Chinese restaurant while I wait, but that would mean I'd have to DRIVE there....hmm.

I'm really nervous here . . . I downloaded First Look a few hours ago. I had to go to the store for a few things, so I left the login screen going, while closing the laptop letting it hibernate 'til I came back. I opened the laptop up, and it was a grey screen. Totally grey. I restarted and came up with a BLUE SCREEN, restarted a few times, showing me these errors in no particular order cause I've been panicking since the BLUE showed up:   My laptop is only a few months old, and was running SL PERFECT (relatively speaking of course), until I downloaded First Look. This all stopped once I uninstalled SL altogether and restarted. I've just now downloaded the older version linked in this thread, we'll see if this works. I thought I should log this here in the case anyone else has this happen. I'm about to try the old version again, and I'll update either way. EDIT: OK. The old version does work, I'm in.
However, PLEASE do NOT make First Look a mandatory viewer for all!(unless that's just a rumor) I do not want a scare like this again.

i got in fine i got flashing neon rainbows off an on in my jewerly an in my lamps an in my picture frames in my photo shop an my floors (kills photos shoots ) lol oh lets not forget side walk out my shop lmao its like a 70's acid trip movie lol when you think its gone its back lol i filed a bug report <hehe>

A couple of things.
Some mentiond FL (Firstlook?). I know it is supposed to be the same but we don't have to use FL anymore, install from the ordinary download page.
I don't remember seeing anything about removing SL, rebooting and then installing/reinstalling the client.
Grey screen. Could be graphics drivers? Make sure your are up to date. Also try changing the graphics setting on you laptop if triple buferring etc for OPENGL is enabled try it without and so on. The best way is to set graphics as basic as you can then start to tick things improving the settings until the problem reoccurs then you will know which setting is causing the problem.
BTW I had same grey screen but it cleared after maybe 20 seconds and I had the usual login screen but only once over a few starts of the Client.

That's what they say on the blogs, but it's actually talking about a completely different issue it seems like. When the Client loads on earlier versions I do remember Quicktime initialising but not OpenGL. I have also noticed that I was not getting smooth edges on my AVs body (what I might have expected to see if I did not use Antialiasing). Under ADV Graphics I unticked "Enable OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects" and the edges are now smooth again. Now I have ticked Enable VBO again and everything stil looks fine (I haven't relogged yet). Is it possible that someone has a problem/the Client has a problem with OpenGL on some graphics cards etc?

I was also having problems with fonts on the map, looked same - jagged to the point that the map was hard to read. Similar thing happened to me using other software (iVAC and if you know what that is I am CA-EC) which was resolved by copying glu32.dll and opengl32.dll into the root of that software's installation folder. Just did same with sl client and I had a message from the client saying my graphics card does not support OpenGL (it does). To the guy with the laptop I wonder if the client is not handling opengl as it should if you can get to preference try it without?

Well, I installed the new version. On the moment the welcome screen appears I get a message that the display setting are changed. And right from that moment SL crashes on me.
There are new drivers for my graphic card, so I am downloading those now. And if that doesn't help, it is back to the old version with me.

Okay. Installing the new drivers did the trick for me. I can log in again.
I am still trying to determine if I like the new viewer.... (SL resetted all graphic settings... ugh )

Morwen. If you mean changing resolution that happens when you enable/disable antistropic filtering in Adanced Graphics (preferences) as far as I can tell that is the only time. Probably referring to the Client not the PC (fingers crossed  ) Shouldn't happen again unless you enable/disable that thing above that I refuse to spell twice. Andrew

I probably should go back to the old version too as SL crashed while starting it the first time after install, was watching a dvd on my laptop at the time. Then I finally get it in I had no inventory for 20 minutes. When that settles I tped to where I wanted to go. Crash. I had to reboot my laptop and it did chkdsk for 10 minutes. Ok back in I start SL then go and make coffee and breakfast. Come back to crash and have to do the whole thing over. Runs fine for the next hour then it makes another crash.

I also downlaoded that update, and within an hour, i had to uninstall and reinstall SL. The flashing RAINBOW STROBE EFFECT on all picture frames, jewelry & floors was enough to drive me mad. Sadly, reinstalling didn't completly stop that rainbow flashing, but at least now it just comes and goes. Contacting anyone at LL about it just isn't gonna happen.. not sure now what to do * sighs*

Where can I get the previous version to reinstall?

H E L P! I believe I have this same system and I am experiencing PC freeze up and crashes continously since the update. I've tried with the normal client with the downloaded update and even tried downloading First Look and running it without the update... I get the same problem with both clients. I have reported this to the Support page... with no response or results, and I log every crash that gives me the pop up option to do so. I feel like a caged animal.. I can't leave my home because every place I've tried to go has heavy lag and crashes me almost immediately. I can't even walk down the street in my sim for very far without crashing. My two favorite things to do in SL is go dancing at the clubs and shopping. At this point I can't do either. And trust me, I spend alot of money at your shops and tipping DJs. So tell me... where is the fun of it any more? This is the absolute WORST update I have seen yet in SL. I never, ever had a problem running SL on my system until last night after the update. If they don't fix it, is there really a point in staying? I'm not usually such a witch, but this has me severely frustrated and angry. Forget freaking voice chat and all the other frilly things and get the existing problems fixed before adding more crap..... please!

Blue Screen of Death

Downloaded the update (Why not?) and almost at once my laptop started to go to the infamous blue screen of death with out any warning. Tryed updating the graphics card and it made no difference. Ended up uninstalling SL and going back to the previous version. Now I am back to the normal operation of unexpected amoiunt of time before freeze up but liveable. Guess I need to update my old desktop with the correct hardware so I can use that.

WELL I BEEN using older version for awhile Had to reinstall after i was gettin 2 voice beta verisons and 1.1.3 was not shoeing up... as one ...so i deleted the beta voice & and reinstlalled 2x 1.13.4 ,,, and did not dl further update 1.14..i just hit continue but im worried about new 1.15 Version update and it seems i had problems loggin on this is why i did it,,so far i get some crashes & rezzing my ava,, lagggg inventory is slowwwwww to show up but if i could stay with is version I WOULD BE so Happy  ) but i really dont know i will will do when new update arrives on wed??? PLEASE advise:  ) myst
