Being turned into a woman during TP

As I am learning in SL some might say not necessarily a bad thing - lol

I dont think this is the 'old woman' av that I have read about before.

What I found is after arriving at my destination my appearance had been changed to a woman and my clothes have been shrunk to fit her (she has no name yet, maybe kilometres!).

I go to edit my appearance and see that the female button has been ticked (who's been ticking my button?!).

I click back to male but find all the clothes and settings I previously had have been completly messed up.

This has now happened a couple of times.

Before the 'crossover' I had been into my Appearance make a couple of minor changes and then clicked save as. I saved the settings in a new folder.

When I dragged the folder to my av to try and get rid of my now cross dressed self, nothing happened.

I am aware there are number of 'issues' with SL at the moment and it might be that my crossover will happen again.

What I really would like to know is how to make a copy of myself so that there is a default av that I can revert back to.

I'm not keen to tp anywhere untill I know how I can get back to my old self, without the need for therapy.

Thanks

Once you have made your appearance and clothing and saved them, create a new folder in your inventory and copy all the items you're wearing or using into that folder as copies. (You can search for ";(worn" to find all items you're wearing at a given moment.)

Your AV reverting to the female shape is causing by the fact that the "default" avatar for all of SL is female (her name is "Ruth"; so what's happening to you is called "being Ruthed" ;) )

In the inventory, there should be a folded called Body Parts. In this folder should be things like a skin, hair, eyes, and shape. If you're not using any of the items in that folder, I'd suggest copying them all to a folder called Default parts, and them deleting them from Body Parts.

In the newly emptied Body Parts folder, move your skin, hair, eyes, and shape of choice. It's even better if they are all copiable, because this way to can make a back up folder called My Body, and drop that in your clothing folder containing the same items.

Now then, once you have all your parts of choice in the Body Parts folder (and copies of these in a back-up folder if you wish) simply wear them. Now, whenever your avi goes all out of whack you can go to the Body Parts folder, and re-equip all the things that make you you.

Hope that Helps :).

When I first visited there were avatars in beta with male and female parts.
Probably but I don't know. I definitely would be out about it sl life if I was in my rl.
Though I have had ideal about Second Life's First Gender Change but I don't know if it would be first but it would be cool to create story about it put on some weird verison of SL Oprah as educating people who are clueless

LOL Well...

Walking around SL I noticed that a lot of the female avatars looked just stunning - great proportions, great skin, hair, etc... and a lot of male avatars looked just plain wrong. Their chests often too big, necks too short, crotches looking like someone cleaved them higher than they should (legs too long I think), and just crazy GIANT CHEST teeny tiny waist and hips contrast... just ... bad. Not to mention weird looking faces.

So I decided I wanted to see if I could make a good looking guy :)

I put one together with a lot of the default clothes in my inventory and demo skins and hair, and now have a good time whipping this ensemble out on certain... occasions - lol - complete with demo hair box floating on top of my head.

Ah... what one does when bored on SL...

I can't remember where, but yes, there is such a group. In fact I think they even have a sim, or a substantial part of one. I remember seeing a "drag skin" for guys on sale somewhere

And oh ya, when I had my male "look" on and my AO on - boy, was he a girly man...

Drag skins - what a concept. But I really shouldnt' be surprised :)

Actually I saw femmeboi avatar he looked pretty cool sort prety and goth like.
I sort of like gender blurr myself on either gender not sure if it can be done on females make them appear more masculine. But I figure it out.
I think its here somewhere http://www.slboutique.com/

When I'm transitioning between my male figure and my female - at one point I changed my shape first before I changed my skin - I have to say my avatar looked VERY odd as a female figure with a male skin on. I guess that's one way of checking it out. I imagine you'd want to find a skin that had absolutely no facial hair at the very least - not even stubble.

I think male avs are inherently ugly. I once tried to make a decent-looking one by editing a female shape and then switching to male afterward. Shhh!

Actually that's what I did lol - my female shape that I love - when switched into male - turned out to be pretty good looking! I had to adjust the height and muscularity though - else he looked rather short and frail.

(I know, I'm weird :))

If you are ever "Ruthed".. open the appearance window, and close it WITHOUT SAVING. your appearance should "revert" back to normal.

I believe that being "Ruthed" (accidentally, not intentionally) is the second step in initiation into SL isn't it? Following the box on the head? :)
