Today i went to update SL on a PC that I use mainly for work and the Virus protection said it was infected with Adware.CPush and deleted it. Sl then had a shell error. Has anyone else had this? Is SL stooping to adware?

I doubt it, or else it would be an issue already. I'd suggest uninstalling SL, redownloading and reinstalling it.

The heuristic of virus and adware scanners is sometimes a bit over-enthusiastic. Probably with intent. I mean, why would people want to pay for anti-virus software if it never finds a virus? The customer needs to be reminded how dangerous the internet is, therefore those tools will find something dangerous every once in a while :)

Just for some peace of mind….

I installed the new update on a clean, isolated machine running XP in a lab setting.

Scanning and testing found no trace of CPush, or any of its related files or registry entries on my test machine.

Perhaps the uninst.exe file has a similar profile.

I just wanted to log in to put my land up for sale as I want to downgrade my account but can't log in without installing the latest version. My PC will simply not allow it to update due to internet firewall and I don't have permission to disable it. Message told me to go to website to download but it looks like I am having to download the entire game again as I couldn't see anywhere to download the "patch" only. Any help here would be appreciated.

You do need to download the entire program.

Its a new version each time, rather than just a patch file.

Every update my PC thinks it has found a virus (although a scan then denies this). I think Aleister is right - it's just reminding me that it CAN find viruses and that it COULD be dangerous. Needy huh?

I now just uninstall and reinstall everytime, whether it is new version or update.
