Hey all.. I started having this problem last night.. all of a sudden the text in my im boxes, and the text in the sl menu became larger, and i started getting popups. Sort of like tutorial island popups.. if i click on my inventory, it says this is your inventory blah blah.. explains what an inventory is. If i click on something it tells me about clicking on things. When i first log in it asks me if I will allow music to play. I have NO idea what's going on. I'm not wearing that newbie tutorial HUD.. I haven't altered any settings... anyway if anyone could shed some light on this problem I'd appreciate it! thanks

It only does that to me if I uninstall SL and delete all its associated folders, then reinstall a clean version.
EDIT: Er, I meant the pop-ups...the text has never mutated on me. _____________________

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

You didn't install the first look viewer to see winlight did you? It does that to me.
(Sorry if this was a captian obvious sort of question.) _____________________

My first thought was what Nimue asked, but I'm going out on a limb here and ask an even more stupid sounding question.. Did you happen to be in SL when the power went out? Cause this is exactly what happened to me after I got the computer rebooted. For some reason, it just lost my SL settings and nothing else. It was like reinstalling SL for the 15th time.

If you have moved your SL cache at some point, installing a new client, will always default to the C:/Document and Setting/<your pc sign in name here>/Applications/Secondlife.. cache folder. If this was deleted previously, and is recreated by the client installation, then it assumes you are new to SL and presents you with the 'noob' pop ups. Previously in the versions of First Look, you had seperate caches but then they 'blended' them which caused some confusion and corruptions. The file in the cache which tells the client that you are not a newcomer is the settings.xml however, my advise is don't delete this, as it contains much more information for the system.
