Alright so I have a store and it's quite nice and I really like it, only the land I own was originally first land mainland, and surrounding it there seems to be a bunch of parcels whose owners Joined SL, bought land, promptly filled it up with eyesores of houses, filled it up with freebie boxes, random prims, and other such junk, put up redtape, and disappeared never to be heard of again. I Sent a message to support questioning on whether anything could be done about this and i'm still waiting for a reply. I kinda wish all the objects were physical so I could use the disrupt feature on my Mystitool for a little cleanup lol. Anyone had this experience and know of anything I could do about it? http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i18/psyco2488/Ugliness.jpg

I would say that as long as they pay, being there or not they can keep it like it is.

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. I've got my fingers crossed that LL has just let it go unnoticed....

If you want a good location, you'll have to sell up and shop for one. There is nothing LL can do, its whoevers plot, they can as they wish on it (within the tos of course >_>

your only hope is that they stop paying and it becomes abandoned land.

I have a huge store on mainland and the people next to me are selling all their land. Its a nice area and I can give you the lm.

I feel your pain. I have a lot like that behind my store, too. I had a Linden over to clean up some giant penises on the lot when we still had Live Help, because people have been using as a sandbox. She told me that as long as the owner owns the land, there's nothing the Lindens will do other than remove obscene or disruptive items. Junk has to stay, because they respect the absentee owner's property rights. The owner pays for it, present or not, so they leave it alone until it gets abandoned. That's their story and they're sticking to it. It contributes to the blight of mainland, for sure, but they are trying to be fair to all residents in not making judgement calls on tackiness. I do wonder about these people who own large lots and must be paying significant tier on land they don't even use. Do they just not notice the charges on their credit cards because they're stinking filthy rich or something? I IM'd the owner at one point and got no response. Same thing for a much smaller lot right next to me. If there is room for more prims on the land, you could do what I did - I put some invisiprims on the land to attempt to block out some of the crap with a floater saying this is private land, to try to discourage people from dumping more junk on it. It seems to have worked so far. Good luck!

It's possible that abandoned plots were paid for with a yearly subscription, so there actually wouldn't be charges on the credit card for a good long while.
The only real solution is to move into a deeply established sim. Check the aquisition date on the neighbors of potential sims. If they've been around for years and the area looks nice, chances are pretty good it won't suddenly flip into nastiness. There's absolutely no guarantees on that, but it's better than chancing newer sims.
Well, you could also rent on private estates...

If the parcel has build and/or object entry you should fill it to the prim limit to stop other people dumping crap there. Generate a multi prim object and bury it under the ground of the parcel.
At least then you won't get any new surprises!
