sorry, not in-world and never used it myself but seen it mentioned before. maybe not called wire-frame. Vaguely remember a control/alt/t or is that force daylight? not the right one if so.
edit: Umm, might even be under 'tools' <whistle>

Open up an edit box and drag it over the area where you think the rug is. Make sure that you drag a large enogh area to select it. You should be able to see it that way, and then I believe holding the shift key down will allow you to select different pieces to highlight. (or something like that...I've done it before but I'm not in world to check) Once you have the rug selected, change the z height.

I'm going from memory, but: Client / Rendering / Hide Selected With that turned on, edit the floor and it'll suddenly vanish (don't worry, it's still there, your puter just isn't drawing it ) allowing you to look for the rug. When you see it, click it, you'll see the floor reappear, and the position arrows are now on the rug. Turn Hide Selected back off (which you'd do even if you can't find it) and move the carpet up and out of the floor and you should be all good . If you think it might be hidden under the land, use Client / Rendering / Types(?) / SurfacePatch while you have the floor selected to make the land dissapear as well, and then once more to make the land reappear. Hope this helped .

it might have also landed in the SouthWest corner of the sim, at location, <0,0,0>. Go there and Camera down under your feet.

~Lower the Floor, If it's your floor. ~If it's NOT your floor, go to the Tools menu, and check the "Select only My Objects" box, them Open the edit Window, Drag a selection area over the spot where the rug sank, when it Highlights, Just drag it back up, or take it into Inventory. ~If you are on the second floor, Enter the apartment below, and Grab the carpet off the ceiling.
Hope one of these helps.
