How do I turn off the "double up arrow"=run? Also how do I get rid of this DOS box?

The up arrow thing is a showstopper for me.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'd assume it would be. I read that on the blog this morning, and right away I was like, "Uh, whose bright idea was that? And what were they on at the time?" Does LL not realize that people do routinely tap their controls in SL just to navigate? For many, holding down the controls makes for less precise movement. Tapping is very common.

What exactly was wrong with the ctrl-R toggle?

You go to http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6232 and maybe vote for the issue, maybe also leave a comment if there is some alternative behavior you would like better.

Really? You can't run the regular client at all?

I am running it now.. But I'm switching to another viewer id the doubletap thing stays. What really sucks is that I like the LL viewer.

I play a RP (NoR) and part of the game requires me to hit the uparrow twice. Running does something completely unwanted. I mean there's not even an option to change it?

Double up arrow puts you into run mode in there.com, doesn't it?

the DOS box you see is probably the console window. Go to advanced toward the bottom you will see the console window option, make sure there isn't a X next to it. If that dosn't work et me know, i have done these things alot since i like to see what all the options do.

I don't like the new look, it's too much like a Mac interface. If I wanted to run things looking like Mac programs, I'd buy a Mac and run them on it. I have a PC by choice.

double-up is also used in BattleField II/2042

I think it may be something of a gaming standard? While it might take some getting used to, I'd like the ability to run without having to turn on "always run" and then remember to turn it off again.

…and I always thought people had PC's just because they couldn't afford a Mac :)

What I don't get is... double-tapping up has always moved you forward. Some products additionally recognize this as a gesture to trigger something, or perhaps even override movement.
Now double-tapping up moves you forward a bit faster, and products still recognize the gesture and react, exactly like it has always worked.
Why that is a 100% gamebreaking, showstopping feature, I don't understand.

Are there products which truly do not work (and if so, why?), or is it merely that people would rather not have double-tapping being "overloaded" like that, on principle, to avoid any potential confusion?

On a personal note, not using any such products, I absolutely love the double-tap-to-run feature.
