Is in game advertisement for private servers wrong?
Since SL like the internet 3d thats how I always seen it. I wanted know as we seen ads before for UO Private server and a L2 one even before if these are ilegal or as long they not breaking copyrights there legal?
As far as I know the current laws on theses private servers are legal as long there not charging or modifying the clients.
But I wanted to hear from you guys what do you think? Should Linden Labs ban all Private Server ADS?

Uh, what now?
There are no "private SLs" to my knowledge. Even the projects that are trying to do it are ages from having anything resembling a workable product.

Yeah and it's not illegal depends how it is but I read some history over the battles of private servers and such only ones that ever been busted were stolen server files and yet the gotwow or w/e witch was not legally taken down it was scared into taking down there site.

I don't care who advertises here. Why should anybody? If they pay money, they help pay the freight. If they don't, I ignore them anyway. What's to worry about?
Aesthetics? hell, go look at the ad farms and other land-griefer builds around. THAT is bad aesthetics. I'd take legitimate advertisers who want my business any day.

Well I'm pretty sure WoW prohibits the use of private servers, do we really want Blizzard coming here to complain about this?

I would be carefull... many private servers are just tolerated, but not more then that. One wrong step and they will be busted. I remember this UO private server that started to ask their players for money for their account. That server was within 3 days down and got never online again.

As an immigrant from WoW to Sl, let me say: Screw Blizzard. They are in a totally different Internet space. And hey, private servers that can hook on to the LL grid are going to be a Darwinian necessity, whether Philip Rosedale or we like it or not. The problem is, to deal with the abuses to SL it opens up. I think that is what needs to be worked on.

Morwen. yes and no.. Selling accounts and making money off it is ilegal. But things like running it is not. Especially for UO
