Well, as we know, the last of the sims currently listed will have run it's course within 20 minutes. All the remaining lots that were previously listed in gray in the area north of Mount Curl, are now listed as purple -- auctions TBA. It seems very probable that these, or at least some of these will be put up for auction following the last of the current batch. Who's thinking they'll be putting out another 40+?

My bet is on it :)

There's 5 new sims listed for auction already. Looks like they'll be putting many more up. I was worried about this -- it was the primary reason I didn't bid on any of the last 40...

EDIT: Currently 8 new sims listed up for auction. They haven't put up any new auctions since. If they're only planning to release 8 per day, I believe they made a mistake releasing those 40 all at once -- it just created a heck of a speculative market. My guess is prices will slowly creep back up to around 11.0l/sqm should they only release 8/day.

A lot of it is waterfront, especially the bits that haven't been put for auction yet - and looking at the terrain it's safe to say a lot of the sims yet to be set up will be waterfront too. I believe this will prevent a genuine price point from forming clearly, unlike in the vast swathes of flat green we've seen since Christmas.

One thing I will say is that the new sims have very awesome names. I hope someone buys them all and keeps them together. Sadly I'm sure a bunch of baby barons will buy them and cut them into ugly 512s.

I preferred the Australian animal ones a few weeks back.

Assuming there isn't one already, I think there should be a sim called Woot. It's so SL, such a cliche there just has to be a Woot sim!!

It seems silly to me that so many people cut lots into 512s - people who actually want to build homes and businesses on their land (i.e., USE it instead of flip it) usually want bigger lots to build them on. I almost doubled my money yesterday on three adjacent 512 lots that I combined into a 1536 and sold within hours. I'm convinced from my limited time dabbling in the market that this 512 business is mostly speculation. I'd check and see if the person who bought the 1536 split it back into three 512s, if SL would quit kicking me out!

Agreed. From what I've found, there are plenty of regular users that aren't even happy with 1024s.

And yes, the names are rather interesting. Oddly enough, some of the sims are named after cities and provinces near where I live -- I haven't seen any named after U.S. states though, although perhaps I've just missed them.

Well I moved out of mainland land into island land recently and you may not like the idea of 512's but they are the staple of sl land economy.
I always split down to 512's when dealing mainland land. A lot of newcomers to the game want to try the small plots first, so their commitment isn't too great, so for them a 512 is a value way to do so plus if it is the only land they own they would not have to pay linden tier fee. And if you want a bigger plot is it that difficult to buy a few 512's and join them.

I have three islands on the go at the moment 1st one full and fully landscaped, that had just a couple of 512's, they were the last plots to go, with waterfall inner waterway and volcano. That we got at the old rate. The 2nd and 3rd were done a little different. The 2nd was again landscaped with a centre island for sale one corner had a volcano and the diametrically opposite corner has a 3k diving area with plenty of attractions and is becoming very popular. This 2nd island carried no 512s only 1024's 2048's and the centre island at 4096. It seems to be sticking a bit. it will go but it will be a little longer.
The 3 rd island is squared with canals and no other terraforming and is partitioned to 101 512s with a prim bonus of 28 and water to at least one side of each plot. That one is going very quickly with over 55% occupancy in 9 days, and it's residents having decided they like it there are now buying more plots and increasing the size of their holdings. Incidentally producing some very tasteful and smart places and giving the island a character designed by it's residents on the fly.

So lets stop saying what looks pretty and what doesn't and criticizing people for the way they carry out their business. After all what looks good to you is only in your Humble Opinion. We are in the business of supplying land to those that want it. I do not think 1 of my sandy 512's is ugly compared to the hundreds of little white boxes one critical Realtor who is posting here, dots his own pretty larger plots with.
