This may cause 'eye rolling" but I need help. I'm wanting to set up a shop and need to create a logo with text and packaging with text - how can I do that? Do I need Photoshop for that? Any help is appreciated.

Wander on over to the Texturing Tips forum and peruse the sticky posts at the top of the page. There is lots of helpful information to get you started and helpful people should you get stuck and need more info.

EDIT: And yes, you'll need a graphics program of some sort to create the images to upload. Search some of the other threads, too for specific information on text in images/textures.

Good luck!

I would go to a free fonts website and look for lettering that matches what you want on your sign. Many stores in real life are just the store name on a blank background. Keep it simple and readable. For something like that you don't need anything fancy like Photoshop. There are lots of free paint programs out there.

rather than pay for photoshop, the GIMP can be downloaded for free and is as good as photoshop... just search on google... any graphics package that supports targa .TGA file format will do the job

Good luck

Gimp would be your best bet if you don't already own PS or PSP. I also use Logo creator allot but not sure if it's freeware or if i leeched it but its quick and easy for logo's

Try www.dafont.com and browse the various fonts putting your shop's name in the Custom preview field. This way you will see how it will look precisely.

If you want to add a graphical element check out the Dingbats or maybe some clip art.

You will nee a program such as photoshop to put it all together. There is a free one called Gimp you can use, actually - www.gimp.org

I would personally reccommend Paint.Net which can be found at www.getpaint.net
