Sometimes 4AM rolls around and I just can't see small letters anymore. Is there a way to get bigger size text in these boxes?

I think I saw somewhere on the forums, you can edit the font size in a xml file in your cache folder. Have you tried increasing the font size in Preferences, Chat tab? If you have IM showing in main chat, you should be able to read it better?

The font related settings that used to require editing the settings file can now be changed using the Client / Debug Settings. Here's their names in the Client Debug Settings list: One might find the UI scale setting on the Preferences / Graphics tab serves the purpose. We need a list of what parts of the interface are controlled by which one or ones of these settings. I have my system pretty funky looking now in the attempt to find the one that governs the chat history font size. I've done this before but I don't remember the answer. Being able to set the font sizes for each separate part of the interface independently would be incredibly useful to many users, I'm quite sure of that, but it doesn't involve 3D, so no programmers find it amusing or interesting and thus it won't be done, despite being a way to add great value to the program for less cost than producing some breakthrough in 3d technology. This is a good thing about the open sourcing of the client; there is some hope that someone will see the high value to cost for implementing features like this a give LL a patch. ==== addenda ======== FontSizeMedium controls or at least affects the size of the avatar names, the main menu fonts, the button text, among others. I'd add more but I can't log back in to see them. People like to customize things, some people spend more time setting up their screen backgrounds, screensavers, setting up their font colors and such, etc. than they do actually doing something on their computers. Individual control of the font size of different interface elements is a very functional and utilitarian feature, but individual control of the colors is something people would like to do just for fun.

With a bit of work one can screw things up royally. Note: The comment above has no connection with any actions taken by the Linden programming staff. I meant to set the FontScreenDPI to 128 but accidentally set it to 1280. Hey, at least the font size matches the sun size now.

In Windows, in the Accessibilty folder (Start, Programmes, Accessories, Accessibility) there is a magnifier that allows you to enlarge a portion of the screen with a mouse click... not the prettiest solution, but it does work... Make a shortcut on your desktop rather than using the long draw out navigations, apply it to your taskbar maybe for greater accessibility?

Suzanne, thanks for your help, but I don't quite understand how to use that to actually change anything, and am afraid to play around with it.
