yea, a few days ago, i turned on the auto-login thingy, and now it seems to have the wrong username or password entered into it. i could easily change it, except, when i try to open up SL, it just starts trying to log in repeatedly, and when it fails, starts trying again. it will not stop to give me a chance to correct the problem. all i can get is an error message telling me that my loggin failed. i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling SL several times, between multiple reboots, and i just dont know how to fix this.

PLEASE, Somebody help me, or at least try listing ideas!

What do you mean by "the auto-login thingy"?

Are you using the shortcut that is creating by the installation program to start SL with or are you using one you have made somewhere else?

Assuming you are running Windows, you could try editing the shortcut that you use to start Second Life with as follows:

"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -login Bloodyllama Grut YOUR_PASSWORD

Might work.

Or make sure it just has "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe"

If you have more than one version of SL loaded you might try uninstalling all of them.

When you uninstall SL it should be delecting the entire settings.xml file where the value of the Debug Settings AutoLogin setting is stored.

If that is not the case you might try editing the settings.xml file and setting the value to FALSE.

The file would normally be C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings\settings.xml for the regular SL client.

Alternately you could try selecting the file in Windows Explorer and deleting it entirely.

There is also a setting related to login in the Preferences General tab, might want to make sure that the Show Start Location on Login Screen is checked.
