If i own a whole Estate... and deed the land to group (so that other people can set their "home" spot on my Estate... but limit the "Everyone" role to =only= being able to set their "home" spot on my Estate...
If, i later (say in June) want to "undeed" the Group Land.. and i'm the only Owner... If i set the land for sale... to myself.. and i buy it.. Will i be charged =double tier= for the month of June? Will SL consider me as having "held" =two= estates for the month of June? Or will it consider me to have "sold/abandoned" one Estate.. and then bought another?
Will my peak holding.. be.. for one Estate or two?
i don't want to be billed $295 twice over.. you see...

From: Colette Meiji you have to give them that power in the group options menu. in "Parcel Powers" i have ~ "Allow Set Home here on group land" checked.
maybe SL is being broke?

you own a private island , right?
You definitely dont need to deed it. Im fairly positive you dont have to on any land.
I wish I knew what was going wrong. But Ive had my home point on 3 different private islands and none were deeded to group.
Hopefully someone can explain it better- But for now id definitely recomend not deeding the island to group.

The Group enabled 'Set Home Here' bug has been around since last summer. Do another Bug Report. Maybe the Lindens forgot its broken...

And they may have to be wearing their group tag too, took me ages to workout why my group couldn't build on group land.

try promoting them to something other than "everyone" and make sure the new title has the 'set home' set before you do so.

My group members cannot set home either. I am concerned about deeding the land to the group as I don't fully understand the rules for it when I own a parcel on a private island

This is no longer a "bug" but an intended "feature" - group land must be group owned for setting home to work, and the power must be enabled in the group options. LL isn't going to fix it.

I ran into this bug as well. Unfortunately there is a lot of conflicting information on the SL web site... some places say you just need to set the land to the group (without deeding), but others say you must deed the land to the group for this to work. In my case, I did have to deed to the group just so I could set my alt's home location to my land.
One interesting point. While the land was deeded to my group, I was able to set my alt's home location there. When I took the land back so that I owned it personally again, her home location stayed on the land. It was a lot of work for such a simple thing, though.
I wish that the option to allow others to set a home location was part of an owner's land tools, or that it was part of the permissions you can give your friends.

But... To answer the original question.
Before selling the land to yourself, remove the land you donated to the group tier. Open the group information dialog box, for the group in question. Go to the land tab. And modify the contribution you have made from whatever to 0.
Then sell the land to yourself.
I have noted that the latest client deals with bits of that for you. Used to be, that if you sold land to yourself from a group, you had to manage the amount of donated tier. But, since the last client update, it has a checkbox on dialog box that pops up asking if you wish to remove the donated tier from the group.
Cheers Anjin

On Estate / Island land, there is no tier (Island fees are completely separate). I've deeded land to group, reclaimed it, deeded it again. It doesn't matter, there's no tier.
Just, when you deed it to group, make sure not to check the box that reads 'owner makes contribution with deed'. You don't need to contribute any tier.
Edited to add/clarify: You don't need to sell the land back to yourself if you own the estate. Just reclaim it. Quicker, easier, no messing around.
