My camera controls seem to have disappeared. I guess this needs to reset in some debug area?

Anyone who has never tried the on-screen camera controls or the on-screen movement controls should give them a try - they don't seem to be real popular but some folks love them.

I don't think they are implemented very well, but I think it would be possible to make a different version of on-screen controls that would be much more useful, but the regular keyboard and mouse method works well enough for me to make figuring out a proper suggested improvement not worth the effort.

Some folks have mobility problems that make them useful. Some folks just like 'em.

It's hard for me to believe some people like spinach. In SL, It takes all types to make the world remain stationary while the sun and moon and the enormous yellow/white circle that blocks the view of the sun revolve around it, ya know what I mean?

You click in the movement key area, then slide the cursor left and right, up and donw, , outside of the control, and you move fairly nicely. Get your left hand on the page up and down keys for altitude control, it works ok.

Mostly it makes me wish the controls for movement worked like this: press left mouse button to go forward, right to go back. Moving mouse left and right rotates avatar left and right, moving mouse front and back makes avatar rotate up and down. Like mouselook but with forward and backward control by mouse buttons instead of key presses.

I just want it all controlled by thought. Should I put that in the Jira?

I actually got some interesting results from the camera controls that I've never achieved using the keystrokes.

Don't you want the Jira entry to be done by thought to?

Besides, why should we have to be thinking all the time? Better to have the things we want just appear without us even having to think of them at all.

The desire for something, to me, is a thought. I don't want to have to screw up my eyes and grunt to force a strong enough thought to make me move from location A to location b. I want it to be fluid and easy.

Unfortunately I thought about the Jira and a flock of ravens swooped down and carried it off in their talons, so I have only myself to blame for not being able to make that proposal.

I can't imagine how anyone manages without them. I have mobility problems; if moving round SL ever became a two-handed operation that would be it for me.

I have them up all of the time.

Specially when making pictures I use them in combination with the mouse & keyboard.

I know where camera controls are in the pulldown. But the litle control unit does not come up on my screen any more when I turn it on.

Umm, have you tried holding the mouse button down while the pointer is on your av, and moving the mouse around? Works here...!

This is normally because you have re-szied the SL window. Try making the SL window fullscreen; you MAY find the viewer palette has slid off to the extreme right and only just shows it's last few pixels. Drag it back with the mouse. Actually, that prompts me to another suggestion in the feature requests forum....

Nope, I have switched back and forth from fullscreen view to window several times.

Still no camera controls.

Clicking your avatar and mousing around does do something, but it doesn't do the same thing as using the movement controls.

When you click you av and hold the mouse button down, moving the mouse controls the avatars rotation, but it doesn't make the avatar move. To make the avatar move, you have to press an arrow key.

With the on-screen movement controls, you can click the up arrow, then walk or fly all around without pressing any keys, by moving the cursor.

I consider that to be a significant difference.

Maybe you're confusing the the on-screen movement controls with the on-screen camera controls.

Has anyone solved this problem? I reduced my window size and when I increased it later, the on-screen movement and camera controls were missing. I super-stretched the document window and found the movement control tool, which I moved back into position, but no amount of increasing the window size revealed the camera control tool. I turned the tool display off and on, but no luck. Please help. Please?

Although the movement control tool was hidden off screen to the _left_, and I found that, I was unable to find the camera control tool, which went missing at the same time. I finally found it, though. It was almost completely off screen on the _right_ side -- just a small sliver was exposed -- and it was under my mini-map, so I didn't see it for days. I was able to grab it and put back where I could use it again.
