I am confused and could use a little help. This account was my first in second life. It is a free sign-up and I gave payment info to get the 250L$ bonus at sign-up. Unfortunaltly, a techinical glitch messed up this avi and I was not able to find tech support that could fix it. A new account was created and a new avi with a new identity was born. She has gone on to a happy life and developed enough technical understanding of SL to rescue me (Cherrie) from my deformity. I am back to life and cute as a button. Here is the question(s) : I am thinking about going Premium and trying out land ownership on the mainland (the other avi buy/rents on a private island). If I go premium and pay yearly at $6 US doesn't that come out even with the weekely stipend? And in addition to that I get 512 of tier on mainland, correct? What happens if the other avi also went premium and she, I, and another friend formed a group? Couldn't we then group all the tier together for use on mainland property we could all use with the annual cost of membership offset by the 300L$ stipend? Is this considered dishonest or unethical?? Do the avi's need to have different email accounts and credit card info/pay pal accounts? Thanks so much. My head is just swimming!

The way the current stipend and Premium pricing is set, you don't break even, no. It costs you more for your membership than the stipend that you get back. In other words, if you add up the sign-up bonus and all the stipend L$ that you get over the course of a year, you'd get more L$ by spending that same amount of money buying L$ on Lindex.
The wildcard is how much value that 512 M2 of free tier is really worth to you.
It's worthless unless you purchase 512 M2 of mainland property. And you still must spend money to BUY that property... So does it really provide a benefit?
If you wind up buying land on a private island, that 'free tier' for being Premium doesn't apply to your land maintenance fees at all. It's just wasted.

Multiple avatars do seem to need unique e-mail accounts if registered today. Existing accounts might not matter. The credit card and real world info can be identical on all your accounts, no matter how many you have.

From: Cherrie Jewell Here is the question(s) : I am thinking about going Premium and trying out land ownership on the mainland (the other avi buy/rents on a private island). If I go premium and pay yearly at $6 US doesn't that come out even with the weekely stipend? At a rate of L$300 a week and a present exchange rate of L$267:US$1 the annual value of your stipend would be US$58.43 and not enough to cover the US$72 cost of an annual Premium membership. From: Cherrie Jewell And in addition to that I get 512 of tier on mainland, correct? Yes, a Premium member can own up to 512-sq.m without additional fees. From: Cherrie Jewell What happens if the other avi also went premium and she, I, and another friend formed a group? Couldn't we then group all the tier together for use on mainland property we could all use with the annual cost of membership offset by the 300L$ stipend? You can do all those things except cover the US$72 cost of your annual membership. L$15,600 won't be enough. You need to come up with an additional US$13.57 each.

They're only giving new premium members L$300/week? Interesting...

OOhhh. Thanks so much. I goofed becasue to calculate the L$ to US$ range I went to the Buy lindedn page and put in $1 US, which is only 186L$. At that rate the annual membership would be a better deal, but obviously I forgot that there is a flat charge and the exchange rate is better than that making the $6 worth lots more lindens than I thought. OOps.
Still, having an avi that lives on a private sim the idea of mainland life is interesting, though I must admit it is a scary place....... Also, there seems to be a strong feeling that a good citizen here goes Premium. I don't know what ot do.

From: Kenn Nilsson They're only giving new premium members L$300/week? Interesting... Since December 1st, I believe. Group-owned land also gets a 10% holding bonus which, if I understand the Knowledge Base entry correctly, means that the three of you should be able to own 1690m without tiering up, rather than the 1536m you would expect from three donations of 512m.

*blinks* it better not be dishonest or unethical to uses mupitple charter of your own to donate land to your group for monthly fee it the only thing that realy make it worth having a premium acout.
But i'm sure SL wouldn't mind you not deeding your mainland land to your group... after all they get more money then from you every month.
so if your wishing to be cheep donated it to your group and be very very carefull what controle you let group members have over land... espishly if those members aren't you.

From: Cherrie Jewell What happens if the other avi also went premium and she, I, and another friend formed a group? Groups require just two members now.
