Are appendages set alpha allowed in PG?

I've a question concerning the term of service.

Are appendages allowed in a PG area if they're set alpha? I'm specifically talking about the furry appendages which have.... /1 hide /1 sheath and other commands.

When set /1 hide, the whole object is set to alpha so nobody can see it.

Is this allowed in PG?

its been considered ok as long as ive been around, altho

1 someone has "highlight transparent" turned on and wants to complain about your red box

2 someone figures out the commands, and the object is poorly scripted to accept anyones word, they could turn it on and get you in trouble (funny story about a black tie event and some wise acre and a urine function hehe)

but if its not visible the only way one could tell is if they are looking for it

but thats my 2 cents

You do know we look at those "invisible" appendages and laugh, right?

personally, i wonder why some people wear some things out of the house.

mainly during build classes where having the edit palette open and pressing alt reveals ALL the naughty invisible scripted bits. if you're not using it... why don't you just take it off?

then there was the class where somebody was apparently clicking on somebody else's xcite ... part... and making it... well, say things. you know what i mean! that was not appreciated for either a class or a pg area.

i think its safer to just take them off. not to mention easing script loads and/or listeners for inactive stuff you're not going to be using anyway.

If you can't use it, lose it!

There's not really any purpose to having it on in a PG area. BEtter to take it off than risk a complaint.

Hmm.. Yes. I see what you mean. Well I don't know of any complaints. I asked the land owners, they basically gave me, "... its invisible... Its okay with us. You can't see it. Just be careful since sometimes textures load before alpha"

Thanks for the response

Nudity is undefined.

Therefore they might NOT be allowed.

Nowhere does it say "Alpha textured" nudity is acceptable.

Depends on the local rules of the place you are in.

For example, on the Isle of Wyrms, all our sims are "Mature", yet all bits, even alphaed ones, are verboten. If we catch someone wearing even an alphaed bit, we ask that he remove it or face the consequences.

Of course, if you wear bits which truly "hide" themselves (using shape-change prims, for example), then that is fine. No one knows as long as they stay hidden, and they can't be seen, even with Alt or Ctrl-Alt-T.

Allowed? Yes, in most cases, though some sims have specific rules about that.

Personally, I refrain from wearing any mature "bits" on my male or female avatars unless I think I may be preparing to use them in a private setting. If I am going to a sim where I am the least bit uncertain of the accepted behavior, I remove them first. (And yes, for a male that means not wearing the sheath and other fur-covered 'equipment', either.) I do this as a general courtesy. It only takes a moment to detach them, so why caue a fuss?

Most furries with no "mature" parts showing are also not considered "nude" when unclothed, any more so than Donald Duck is considered to be mooning everyone because he runs around with no pants on. But again, even for a furry character who is comfortable and accepted running around "in the fur" in a furry sim, I would consider it common courtesy to put on some clothes before travelling to areas that might take offense at a naked wolf or vixen - even if the avatar is PG in all respects other than the lack of human-style clothes, and doesn't even show any nipples.

If I am in a furry sim, I still check the rules. Some allow a male to be "in the fur" and have a sheath etc showing, but not to be "aroused" in public. Others ask you not to show a sheath, either, unless you're in a private area.

In the end, it's a question of courtesy, and not 'what is allowed'.

Well now, there is an interesting idea.

That isn't my sheath, it's a prim loincloth! (Until I issue the right command...) Hummm...

Well, then it looks like you found out what is allowed before you even posted here.

The land owners said they were okay with the invisible appendage. However, the land owners also said they abide by the rating on the land which LL has assigned. Ultimately I believe the allowed or not allowed in PG would be up to the Lindens.
