Been playing around alot with land just from being bored and such and noticed a few things. For one, I have some land on a private sim and its right on a corner. I lowered the ground level all the way down as far as it can go since I work up in the air and since then I have noticed if I get the angle of my cam just right and I am slightly in the air above it, I can see houses under the water on my land. lol No I have not been smoking anyrhing... FOR REAL! lmao

Also I have noticed that if the sun is set to noon and you find a really clear spot you can see that everything around you is in sections of one giant prim thats trans after another. What I mean is if you look just right and it is hard to make out, you can see the boarders of the prim that the island is divided into.

Why am I saying all this... Just thought it was kinda need seeing how the world around us in here is really working. So it seems to me that everything here is huge prims stacked on huge prims vertical and horizontal and they are trans. We seem to live within these prims. This would explain also why I can see parts of houses once in a while below my land. If you fly in close they fanish. As I said the cam has to be just right. Also this would explain why sometimes if you attempt to use a teleporter you get stuck in what seems like mid air and you might see somebodys house or be right next to somebody standing whos not really there for a few seconds.

Again.. No I have not been smoking anything, lol. Give it a try see if it works for you. I have my monitor set for rather bright to and the lines are hard to make out but you will see them.

Report back and tell me if you can see this stuff so I know for sure I have not been spending way to many hours on SL without sleep.

One of the bugs in sl is some things get wronly rezzed at 0,0,0 when they should have been rezzed elsewhere in the sim. Maybe you could return these items to their owners.

Well, maybe.... One of my stores is at the 0,0,0 corner of a private island, and most often when I've tried to return items I've seen under there it just crashes my SL client to desktop at lightning speed. I learned to just leave them, they will go away eventually and don't count against my prims, it's just a visual quirk or something.

And..... If I turn on "View Transparent", I can actually see my HUD attachments under the ground at that corner of the sim. It's true I tell you! :) I can even go into edit mode and move a HUD attachment over and watch the transparent object under that corner of the sim move...

What happens if you turn on autoreturn and then run and duck behind some kind of cover? ;)

hehe :)

Actually, I have autoreturn on all of the time... The objects don't get returned because it's just some glitch in SL, they just appear to be under the store or something. They go away usually within a day I think, I don't keep close track anymore, haha.

There used to be bug where items rezzed on build enable/object disabled land would get stuck in 0,0,0 but that bug should have been fixed (although older items may still remain).

Items that are in the process of being auto-returned apparantly also briefly show up at 0,0,0 before going off-world.

If there's enough lag, you'll briefly see people who sit down on something in the sim move to 0,0,0 as well.

What you're seeing is a sim-edge mirrage. You're seeing things that are elsewhere in the sim, being inaccurately displayed as beyond the limits of the sim border in a void space.

I used to live on a pair of private island sims where I was estate manager. The pair were side by side, and bordered by void sims on three sides, and at one end of the rectangle that "my" two islands formed there were three more sims, making a T shape. It was not all that uncommon to approach a sim edge, look at just the right angle, and see things 'floating' beyond the sim edge that were actually elsewhere in the cluster of sims.

You could prove what you were actually looking at by selecting the 'displaced' items, and seeing who owned them. If you went to that person's parcel, sure enough those items were there, where they should be. The one that we saw beyond the sim edge was an illusion.

Just kinda cool to see things working in the back like that. :-)
