Hi there,
I've bought a new skin and don't know how to put it on. ¿Anybody can tell me how?
Thanks a lot

Watta, You need to "wear" it like you do clothes - you can drag it onto your avatar in game and it will replace the original one that you were "wearing" - when you do this you will end up naked - so you might like to choose your spot carefully.

Sounds like it's in a box. Drag the box from your inventory to the ground, right click, select open, and you'll see a button allowing you to copy to your inventory. Once it's in your inventory, you can wear either by dragging on to your avatar, or right click on it in your inventory and select wear.

Don't feel bad, hon. Every new Player goes through the rite of passage known as "Wearing a box on your head". Sometimes it's difficult to tell that an item is in a box, as opposed to a loose item that is ready to wear. And sometimes you just click the wrong thing...
I once wound up wearing a whole house on my head, in place of my prim hair, because I clicked too close to my own image on-screen when I tried to put the house on the ground... And I had been playing for more than half a year.

I drag everything to the ground now instead of wearing it first. Unless its something that I know will be very small....then I'll wear it first. I've worn too many posters and boxes at this point ....I'm apparently shell-shocked.

It gets easier to figure out boxed vs. not once you're familiar with the various inventory symbols and what they mean, but independent prim items such as jewelry still occasionally lead me to wear boxes. I love the creators who make the effort to label their boxed prim items as such.

From: bilbo99 Emu and why is it that for those precise 2.5 seconds you're wearing a box .. everyone is looking at you?!? Actually its longer because once you realize that you are wearing a box and rush to remove it, you find out that the box displaced your hair....and you are now bald. (crap! crap! crap!...wheres my hair?...I need my hair!!!) Even worse, my hair is a two piece flexi and the box only replaces the top piece. When I remove the box, I have the classic hair ring around the outside of my head with no way of doing a comb-over. LOL

If you buy an item from a scripted vendor - In other words any vendor you have to "PAY" or "fast pay" instead of "Buy" - 9 times out of 10 it will give you your item in a box.
If you "Buy" you rarely get the item in a box.
Also if its a box it will be in your objects folder -
If its not it will be in a folder in your inventory named after the sign you bought it from.

I end up wearing boxes all the time because too often I can't bring myself to throw away the original container.
In fact, I've finally created a folder called "Pretty Empty Boxes" where I keep the boxes from No Copy items.
In the back of my mind I keep thinking it would be fun to build a museum of SL packaging -- it's so creative and decorative, often more so than the item that came in the box.

You can wind up wearing an item if you drag it to the floor too. Couldn't figure out why the huge fish tank was not stable and kept bobbing around unitl I looked in my inventory and found out I was wearing it on my head. Make sure you have enough room when you drag things to the floor or you may wind up with a huge migrane headache like me.
